Postage question?

Odd question! Would anyone have any idea of how much it may cost to send a DE razor and a few blades (in a jiffy bag) to The Netherlands?! Bit of a long shot but i thought someone on here may have done so, Henk?!

Airmail 150g = £1.93

If it's below 100g, it'll be probably less than posting it to the UK (thanks to Royal Mail's "Pricing in proportion"). Otherwise http://www.royalmail.com has pricing info. Couple of quid, maximum.

The big rip off comes when you add "signed for" - 75p UK, something like £4.25 most other places.

Small packet airmail to Europe is cheaper than first class within UK.

I assure you the same applies here, I sent a razor to someone in france, cost me 3.25 euro, to the UK, less than 100g, 2 euros.. go figure.

They don't seem to do small packets within France, it's either letter or packet.

And Europe includes all of Russia - so it's cheaper to send Airmail to Vladivostok than to Vauxhall.

I presume this is down to the Royal Mail factoring in the cost of the "final mile" - ie. Frank the Postman pushing the "sorry you were out" card through your door...

This information just adds up to my amazement why on ebay and such there are so many who refuse to send abroad.... :?
I have seen so many auctions I would gladly bid for twice the price it sold and it´s obvious the sellers end up losing too.

The problem is once you start adding tracking etc.. (which I would for eBay sales), costs add up.
On top of that, people are wary of foreigners.. they talk funny!

Maybe, but there are significant differences in performance between expectations and reality in some countries (I'm not talking a day or two... I posted 12 identical packages to Spain on the same day... they landed at their destinations between 5 days and 9 weeks from posting).

Official word from Royal Mail is 5-7 business days.

Doesn't apply in Portugal, here we have this envelope with no weight restraint, just size of the envelope, called Green Mail that we usually get for the groups buys! The smaller one costs 1.85€ and ships anywhere in Portugal in a day (I know, we're tiny)! With international mail we pay more, and always depending on the weight!

Just recently I sent an insured package to Sweden which cost a king's ransom, but not to worry. According to the leaflet in front of me though, the ordinary airmail rate would have been £1.49, and surface mail a very reasonable £1.12. So why did it cost my wife 75p to send a slightly outsized birthday card to Sussex today? :?
