New Shoes

nice enough looking shoes indeed, but sadly look like classic italian stitched built. Meaning you'll get about a year out of them at the most. This style of shoe can't be re-soled properly, and as such as soon as the sole wears through (which looking at them, wont be all that long) they are pretty much done.

If you hope to keep them a bit longer, think about popping to a cobbler soon and getting an extra layer of rubber put on the sole. It'll help them wear for longer and will keep the water off the leather soles.

If you like that style of shoe (e.g. lace up ankle boot) and ever fancy treating yourself to something a bit special, check out the Crockett & Jones Tetbury in black.

Nice slender last, goodyear welted, waxed nubuck leather and Dainite soles. I have two pairs of these, one in brown waxed and another in suede. They are utterly superb. At the slightly cheaper end of things, Loake do a very similar style called the Pimlico... sadly only available in brown. But that means they go with everything!! :)

p.s. for shoe trees... see here: http://www.afinepairofshoes.co.uk/collections/shoetrees-shoe-horns-a-z/products/cedar-wood-shoe-tree
