Could one of you kind people please give me a run through on how you add a YouTube clip to a post.

Also how do you resize a picture to be uploaded without image editing software? or is there a way to get the forum to do it automatically.

As simply as possible please :oops:

For a youtube... you take the URL from the the box marked "URL", I'll use --> <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSR0JaIIM88" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSR0JaIIM88</a><!-- m --> <-- as an example.

Hit the youtube button and paste it between the youtube tags

Code:
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSR0JaIIM88[/youtube]

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSR0JaIIM88[/youtube]

The only "hard part" is that there can't be any trailing crap after the video ID (if there is trailing crap chop off anything including and after the first "&" after the ?v= part - nor can it come from (say) <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://uk.youtube.com.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://uk.youtube.com..</a><!-- m -->. - the first of the URL must be <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com..</a><!-- m -->.

For uploading images I just use image shack...<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://imageshack.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://imageshack.us/</a><!-- m --> (there are others)

You can choose whatever size you want from the pull down menu, browse and then upload image from your computer.

After processing has finished it will provide you with a direct link. Just copy and paste that into your image tags.

Okay... at the top of the screen click "user control panel". You get some options up. Click "profile" (it's in a box marked "OPTIONS"). Click "Edit Avatar".

Now you have to have a pic size 125 by 125 pixels max, and saved as a JPEG and no bigger than 97.66 KB.

In the "upload from your machine" bit, click "browse", and cycle through to your pic.

Then upload it.

Any probs, Sharon, send me a PM and I'll walk you through it in more detail.

Congratulations!! I'm still trying to work out how to get an avatar on here. :oops: :oops: :oops:
Help!

I know exactly what you mean; antdad took an hour out the other night and very patiently walked me through getting photos on here.

I'm so ashamed.......my oldest grandson will become a teenager in May, so undoubtedly if I could wait until then, he could sort it all out. In my experience Male + hormones = computer whizz! Already he and his 11 yr old brother know more about You Tube and instant messaging than I'll ever want to know.
But instead, I'll PM Cheese Dave and take him up on his generous offer......but will wait until next week, as am in Bristol tomorrow, and Leamington Spa for the weekend, so must now go and do a bit of packing.
