I would (and did) buy separate to start with - get what you want rather than fit in to the "one size fits all"... - a good point to start seems to be the EJ DE89, add a Fido brush (or a Vulfix 404 mix from Diamond Edge), a blade sampler (Connaught) & a tube of Palmolive cream (supermarket) and you can try it out and make sure it's "for you" before upgrading the various parts (and acquiring 10000 soaps/creams, 200 brands of blades, spare razor handles...)
