The nicks will get less and less, and then after a while they show up again, because you get a bit careless, after a while you'll be fine, and have lots of bits and pieces :D
What tools are you using? Razor & Blade?

I have just had nick free weekend, I was pretty good at nicking myself with a Gillette Sensor.

I use a Muhle 98 with Astra Green, was using Derby last week, prefer the Astra.

Could some explain what all those acronyms mean.

Just a few of the top of my head:
RAD = Razor Acquisition Disorder
SAD = Soap Acquisition Disorder
SWMBO - She Who Must Be Obeyed
NOS = New Old Stock (stuff that's not made anymore, but is still new in packaging)
FS = For Sale
FT = For Trade
PIF = Pay it Forward (to send someone a sample/item for free)
MdC - Martin de Candre shaving soap
T&H = Truefitt and Hill (soap and stuff)
TOBS = Taylor of Bond Street (soap and stuff)
WTG = Shaving with the grain
ATG = Shaving against the grain
XTG = Shaving across the grain
TTO = Twist to Open, Mechanism used in some razors for changing blades (gillette rockets/superspeeds, fatboy etc..

There are many more.. these are the first that came to mind.
