Does your sister know you are using images of her beautiful pen in order to enable the weak and vulnerable on TSR?View attachment 70914

Not mine - the new pen of my sister - Esterbrook Estie in tortoiseshell - gold Jowo nib - fine. I have the same pen in piano black with the rhodium nib. They write just great. Yours - I.
You could try the Japanese Zebra G flex nibs, which I think are stainless steel. I use them for copperplate. I have also tried, with limited success, to follow the instructions for using them to replace the standard nib in cheap Chinese fountain pens (Jinhao, Wing Sung etc.). They will work OK, but need a lot of adjusting to get right, which is a pain as the feeds on these pens are hard plastic and not ebonite, which can be heat-set in hot water.Ok....I managed to get one with Brause nibs which match the ones I used at school. I think I am going to have to revert to the style I used at the time....copperplate. Any other nib designs I should be looking at for normal writing. Calligraphy can come later!
Lovely collection...and thanks for the info. I actually put in an order for more Brause nibs. I got a pack of Steno and a pack of Rose nibs...both of which I have still to try. My wife goes away for a few days next week so I will look at them then. You could try the Japanese Zebra G flex nibs, which I think are stainless steel. I use them for copperplate. The top one has a Zebra nib, the bottom is sterling silver, the two above it are pocket pens with retracting ends, one being a nib and the other a pencil lead, and the stripey penholder is silver and agate.
Lovely vintage Conway Stewart. I have 15 vintage CS and 5 modern ones. I love my vintage ones, especially the 58, but I’m unimpressed with my modern ones.
Yes agreed, the modern ones are not so great, these are all old ones. Some in need of restoration and a little maintenanceLovely vintage Conway Stewart. I have 15 vintage CS and 5 modern ones. I love my vintage ones, especially the 58, but I’m unimpressed with my modern ones.

This writing rabbit hole is a deep one!
You need an antique desk now to set it on!
Paul.
You must tell me all about it, country of origin, age, etc.Funny you should say that Paul, I am seriously looking for a "small" Vintage writing bureau. Dear Dear me, what have you two started
I have no idea, I thought it was European, very Poirot. Its unused, the Cork pads in the lids are still intact. The pen screws apart and can hold the spare nibs, that's where I found them. The box is vintage cardboard, there are no makers marks on it, on the nibs under the loupe it has 63 HIRO 1/2, so it could be Austrian? Maybe a Carl Kuhn & Co, which would be pretty cool. You must tell me all about it, country of origin, age, etc.

I have no idea to be honest, but one of the forums that deal with pens and suchlike would be the best place to ask.I have no idea, I thought it was European, very Poirot. Any help ID'ing would be great.
Herr Carl Kuhn - more on the Austrian connection
There are many stories about the background of C Brandauer & Co Ltd which are not necessarily correct. Therefore, I thought I would write a...historycbrandauer.blogspot.com
