The weishi was okay, lightweight, seemed sturdy on the blade holding clamps.

I could see why a heavier razor might be a better shave though, as I noticed at times It was very light on my face, so maybe would have been a closer shave with a heavier razor.

Not always the case cozzy; remember, minimal pressure and short strokes...just keep going and the technique will soon get there.

Remember - stick with the one set-up until you have your technique nailed down before changing stuff around. ... unless you really don't get along with a blade or such, and are getting minced face, of course.
