Does anyone really buy this titanium thing?

I like light razors but would never part with the money they ask for these titanium razors.

What I do like is good quality plastics in a razor. For example my Wilkinson Sword Classic made from delrin mostly. Virtually indestructible, light and obviously resistant to corrosion. Basically all the qualities titanium offers at a fraction of the price.

Here's one that'll suit you perfectly!

See? "Titanium" right there on the pack. Must be true or they could be sued :ROFLMAO:

Well some tiny part of it will be Titanium .... or maybe they will put in tiny writing "Titanium is a marketing term within the context of this product"

Like the word "Unlimited" , which often doesn't mean in advertising what you might reasonably expect it to mean

I really like the night and day difference between my Ti Blackbird and the stainless steel in shaving feel , with the Ti Blackbird I feel I truly get a smoother shave from it and would be happy to use it every day, not so with the SS Blackbird and the black oxide Blackbird which i also had

I'm with you, I've only tried a handful of Ti, only the Tatara and Shield Predator have actually passed muster with the Shield already being in the collection and whilst I get a cracking shave from the Tatara I'm still not sold on it totally from an aesthetic vs cost perspective.

Blackland put together a 5 benefits of Ti Razors, however from a personal perspective I disagree with the majority of them, but it is absolutely 100% a personal thing as I tend to prefer weightier efforts.

1. Decreased blade feel - I'm a heavy handed bugger so I put more pressure on to mimic SS or Brass, so what I tend to get is irritation.
2. As efficient as stainless when you need it to be - see point 1, yes I can make it the same but I overdo it.
3. Titanium is light, but not too light - sometimes true but see points 1 and 2
4. Titanium increases glide and manoeuvrability - I would say this is true, but I wouldn't say this is a colossal positive over SS and Brass razors. SS and Brass aren't so ridiculously heavy that I need to be a body builder to sling it around my face.
5. Titanium has no risk of corrosion (then goes on to say effectively zero) - assuming it is pure titanium then this is true, but again I don't store my razor in an an environment where this is a risk.

Again this is a personal taste thing and there will be people who benefit from it from a physical perspective, but I'm not 100% sold on it. All that being said I still want to try the Ti Blackbird lol

Likewise. And why I made comment as being an upmarket disposable. And they don't tend to corrode either.

As efficient as the user

Titanium is light, but not too light - sometimes true but see points 1 and 2

Compared to what? A razor made from helium?

Titanium increases glide and manoeuvrability

Might have thought glide and maneuverability are only as good as the user and the lather quality. Okay, in my case I'll go for shite

I might agree to some extent in that I have a rusty ATT 316 stainless handle. Then again I have a 1921 in immaculate condition. Don't think I will be around to make a subjective observation when the current crop of Titanium razors reach the same age. Other than that if I do go to heaven I have to grow a beard anyway

This isn't strictly true - Titanium will galvanize and corrode when in contact with oxygen and some chemicals.

When the SR-71 spyplane was built, they found it corroded in place where chrome-vanadium tools scratched it, so they had to have specialised tool kits made entirely of Titanium.

Please note the headings are not my own, they're from the Blackland site. Personally I would have chosen better terminology, perhaps greater corrosion resistance.

I had read previously that titanium would form a layer of titanium oxide when in contact with oxygen but honestly it's not my area of expertise.

In my hands, any three piece razor runs the risk of being over tightened or have its threads cross-threaded. So I stick with TTO’s or relatively cheap three piece razors. No expensive titanium for me! Mild OCD at play I guess…
