Acquisitions 7 Mar. - 14 Mar.

Well ones lined handle like the pic the other is plain! But it seems that the lined is out of stock anyway so your decision may be made for you !

After a meeting with IBM in the middle of town today, I discovered a Poundland that wasn't there last time I looked and got a tube of the Real Shaving Co's Thick Moisturising Shaving Cream and a bottle of Gillette AS Balm for £1 each. Then I was walking through John Lewis and happened to come away with what I think is a Vulfix VS/5 Pure Bristle brush for under £7 and a tub of TOBS Sandalwood cream!

On arriving home, I was greeted with another of my recent eBay purchases: a 1948-50 US Aristocrat

Just when I thought I was out, I've been dragged back in.

All the talk about scuttles, mugs and bowls got me thinking. By far my most effective lather maker is the inside of my 1.5 Dirty Bird Scuttle described and shown here:

I thought it might be a good idea to get a bowl made for lathering which replicated the inside bowl of my scuttle. A quick google and half an hour later I'm in a pottery studio discussing and agreeing a spec for the bowl. So within a couple of weeks I'll have a new bowl made by a local Forest potter. Review and pics will follow. Ain't the internet grand!

A new lathering bowl from Wilkos for 1.09, its actually a dog feeding bowl but works great for lathering,

Great bargain - similar "shaving bowls" go for about 10-15 times that price on ebay!

Nice, will you be using yours.

I have just taken delivery of a '64 Gillette Slim Adjustable (?) My first vintage razor. Not sure if I want to use it now I've got it.

Scuttle has arrived!!!

First use tomorrow morning. It looks even better in the flesh (or...er...clay i guess  )

It has a nice heavyness to it too.

I shaved with it last night - it was fantastic!

Nice Slim. Unless it's never been used and you're into collecting rather than using, I'd pop a blade in and treat yourself to a great shave.

A job lot of 5 razors I bought on eBay at the weekend. This is them after I cleaned them up tonight:

1949 US Milord, 1936 Red & Black Set, 1960 Fatboy (F 4), 1921-28 Milady Decolletee British Set, 1927 Milady Decolletee.

Shaved with the Red & Black - surprised at the hollow-feeling, lightweight handle but very pleased with the shave!

Lucky you. How much did you get that lot for. what did they look like before you'd cleaned them up?
