An SOTD with the theme 'What was wasn't and what wasn't was'
Started my shaving routine with great intentions to go down the road of the aluminium General, ADP and the Mew Brown, being among my chosen shaving weapons for this week while onboard the boat.
'Job this afternoon has gone down to just one tug and the job tonight has gone back to midday tomorrow'
Sod this for a game of cowboys and so home I went, abandoning the shave before getting much further than 'these will do, take a picture'.
No doubt you will probably get the same photo again in a slightly different presentation sometime soon. So this was the shave that wasn't.
And the shave that was
Wasn't but is now - Occams Commander
It was this one - Kai Captain
Has to be me please - Wee whisky barrel
What donkey? - La Savonniere Moulin
A shave with a difference with the rarely used Commander and donkey shaving soap. I imagine it must be quite difficult for a donkey to shave and I don't actually see that many queueing outside the local barbering establishments. Ah. Lock down, there is my answer
. But they do make a cracking shaving soap. Clever creatures these donkeys and they do like to be well presented.
The Commander. I am still in two frames of mind with this razor. I do find the blade loading a little inconvenient and a little strange and if not careful it is quite easy to misalign the blade as I found on a past visitation much to my displeasure. But it is an Occams and it seems to be a feature of theirs. Make it awkward. Secondly and probably because of the blade loading, I find the head way oversized and it lacks that accuracy I can gain with more convetional heads. Compared to the Colonial V2 it is like Comparing a child's sand pit spade with a payloader bucket.
But, and here is the big but, misgivings aside, it does deliver incredibly smooth and efficient shaves free of fear factor and with great ease. This time was no different. It certainly takes some time to get the measure of the head but once there it is bloody quick and bloody effective. It is the same payloader bucket digging the child's sand pit. A question of one sweep and voila ici, fluff one moment gone the next.
Certainly assisted on its way with the donkey soap which I could never say a bad word for outside of the price. But it takes little or nothing to do a great lathering job. No hassle and no scent so wear what you want on top.

Piddle anyone?
The wee whisky barrel brush does exactly what one could expect from a brush and full marks to the Gentlemen's Groom Room for creating this little wonder.
So whinges and whines to one side, one very easy and close shave delivered with donkey grin factor.
And I thought that was illegal? But may be this should be. Japanese female fronted death metal. Undecided here.
And may you all, your families and friends be safe and healthy during these challenging days. I do love you all
