SOTD: Saturday 09 to Friday 15 of October 2021

Been a bit lazy on the posting front this week. I have shaved every day. Today's was a really nice shave with a bit of a franken-tech.

It's one of those that I got in my last blast of 4. Came in a 40s bakelite case; it's got 40s head, possibly 50s or 60s base plate and definite 60s handle. The balance is a bit off, as it's top heavy with a slim aluminium handle. Despite this off balance feel, loaded with a Perma sharp and using the DG soap, DFS in 2 passes.
Happy Friday everyone, it's the weekend (unless you're working in the Middle East)!

I don't normally do shave of the day but I was kindly loaned a razor from Dan @ATG.
Soap, MWF.
brush, omega boar (10066 or something like that).
Razor, a nice looking cased, as I understand is a schick L type injector.
Blade, schick ultra platinum.
Aftershave, Old Spice.

Loading the razor with a blade was straight forward, I thought it would be a bit tricky but was fine.
The razor is very light but the shaving angle was very easy to find after a couple of strokes, I found the razor gives good audio feedback (a nice crisp buttering toast sound).
The blade being an SE felt very rigid (not sure of the description I am looking for here) and sharp, no irritation or weepers
And aftershave was just a little tingle.
I'm not sure, but I only had a one pass shave on two day stubble as I could not wait to use it, but I feel smoother than usual.
(I normally shave every day). And I now feel great and keep stroking my chin like an evil maniac.
Overall, great razor and as a first shave

Edited to add detail as I hit post too soon.

@jimmyc stands at the edge of a very deep hole. Will he slip or will he jump? Either way, I think he's going in.

Allow me to recommend a great bargain cologne for you to enjoy during your descent ;) :

Yes I am at the edge. I would have taken the TOBS cologne but I have two bottles already.
Now the injector rabbit hole, I'm not so sure about. It's a different shave from a DE or even a 1912- 1914.
Bugger, yes hello can I see the bank manager, no I am not going to squander anything on old razors.

Ganders Goat Soap w/Hop, Sage & Birch
Hampshire Wool Fat Shaving Soap Cedar & Patchouli
Semogue SOC Taj w/Blonde Boar 24mm
RazoRock Hawk (Regaulr Plate) w/RazoRock Halo UFO Handle
Feather ProSuper (5)
Brut Musk Aftershave

While I really enjoyed the Hawk on the regular plate with the Feather Professional, it was a revelation when that blade was dropped onto the A plate. Similarly, I have really enjoyed the additional blade feel and character of the Feather ProSuper on the A plate, but tonight I tried it on the regular plate and was pleasantly surprised.

When I bought the Hawk, I did wonder if the Feather ProSuper on the regular plate would be a good fit as it was kinda proposed that the A plate was aggressive. Personally, I find the A plate milder (less blade feel) and much smoother. I'm going to regard the A plate as "alternative" ...

So, for me, while the A plate is a pretty perfect fit with the Feather Professional if I wanted a more characterful shave, one with more blade feel, blade chatter and potentially a little more danger, the regular plate and the Feather ProSuper make great companions.

I've yet to try the Feather ProSuper on the open comb. Tomorrow, perhaps.

Razor = ATT Windsor Copper ( CR )
Brush = PAA Starcraft 24mm Synthetic
Blade = Gillette Super Thin Platinum ( 1 )
Soap = PAA Fresco with matching Splash
Balm A&E Unscented Rice Water Serum

5CE72D2C-B467-4D28-A7EA-3143C621C2F8.jpegA Very Good 3 Pass Shave Tonight.
Everything was a first for me except the blade.
The Razor was exactly how i thought it would be,
absolute class workmanship and a brilliant shaver.
The Brush like all PAA was a dream, it whipped up a lather in seconds & really worth the cash
The Soap is apparently a Homage to
Old Spice Fresh which i actually can’t remember ever seeing or using.
I have seen it on ebay & the splash is green which i have.
The balm from a&e is class,
i actually got this balm by accident as i bought the other three to go with the shaving butters but what a brilliant addition.
Over all a very decent shave,
i didn’t want to shave to close as i’m planning a shave everyday if my face will take it.

SOTD: 15/10/2021

Razor: Merkur Futur Clone
Blade: Gillette Black 7 O’clock , 1st use
Brush: Omega #625 silver tip badger
Bowl: 3D Printed Bowl
Preshave: PAA Cube Unscented Soap
Soap: Menrock Black Pomegranate Cream
Aftershave: Tom Ford Black Orchid EDT
Balm: Baxter Of California Aftershave Balm
Additional Care: Osma Laboratoires Alum Block
Loaded the brush a little heavily not realising this was a very soft cream but it produced an amazing result! An extremely thick lather, glossy and whip double cream like! The smell increased with the lather and for me it’s an ideal autumnal scent. All in all a bargain for £2! Inly downside is I missed the bump on my neck again, opening up the previous days nick! The razor was my third I think and still a solid shaver that I wouldn’t ever let it go!
Enjoy the weekend guys!
