SOTD : Saturday 4th July - Friday 10th July 2020

Razor - Merkur Futur
Blade - Astra S.P (2)
Soap - Cella
Brush - Simpson t3
A/S - Epsilon Mediterranean blue

First use with the T3 brush and I'm impressed. Not overly keen on the Epsilon. Bit too much menthol for my tastes. Astra blade struggled on only its second shave so ditched it. BBS all over with no cuts or weepers so happy with that. All in all a decent shave today.

4/7/20

First time using Tabac and I really enjoyed it. Certainly seemed a thirsty soap to me and took some extra work to get a lather but I got there in the end. Excuse the make shift tub, have to save money where you can in this game . No aftershave either tonight.

Razor is the Rockwell 6c with a feather blade.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Prep .............. Warm face wash L'Oreal cleansing gel.

Well it was worth the wait a a cracking shave. I had a super lather from the palmolive mix enough for 3 shaves and the razor and blade combo was excellent.... All spruced up , with nowhere to go

A new week of SOTD's and the first pile of crap from me in the shave themed 'Dr Muhle and his 89th shaving head'

IMG_20200703_203829.jpg

I assume his prior 88 were all rubbish bar the 41st which was actually an alternative use for a rodent guillotine.

No.89 - Muhle R89 - Razorock titanium handle (thank you @ajc347 )
No.90 - Polsilver Lodz
No.91 - Yaqi Dandelion
No.92 - Gentleman's Tonic cream
No.93 - Nivea moisturiser

Professor Gillette discovered that if you beat a piece of metal for long enough it would actually get thinner. Give it a sharp edge and what you ended up with was a thin piece of sharp metal with no purpose outside of threatening mice.

It wasn't until 1945 when Dr Gunter Muhle invented the safety razor head that a usefulness for these slivers of sharp steel was finally found. Shaving was born and along with it the R1. It also quickly died as no one had invented handles.

Roll on a number of years and he finally introduced version No.89 which to this day remains a favourite of shavers the world over and unfavourable with the rodent population.

And that is where I find myself today

It is the R89 which introduced me back into real shaving after a long hiatus using the ever popular multi blade cartridges. An offshoot of having so many sharp pieces of metal left over. For me it also happens to be an Iconic and classic razor which doesn't do anything wrong other than being far too cheap. The Handle was a super buy from the BST despite me saying 'What bloody use is titanium for shaving gear?' Connect the two together and the end result is an exceptionally fine and capable piece of shaving hardware. It is one of the only razors where I think a Feather blade can win the day. Unfortunately I don't have any with me so a good old Polish Polsilver was called upon to work its magic.

Excuse me but what use is a box of bloody cereal for shaving?

So a classy razor meets a classy cream meets a classy brush. Do some of that shaving type stuff and voila ici, one classy shave. A shave so smooth my wife could slide on the end results

Anyway the true end results are to give you some lovely Japanese ladies giving it some heavy shit. It's the only reason you ever get this far

Stay well everyone and the same for all your families and friends. Have a safe week ahead
