Closed Pass around: Black Standard Razor

20160402_101100-1.jpg It's arrived with me and probably get to shave with it tomorrow. Got to say, it's a beautiful, elegant looking razor. Shame about the marks on the head though but lovely nonetheless.
 
20160403_175535-1.jpg So my first shave with the standard and quietly impressed. I really love the look of this razor and for this reason alone, I probably will purchase one when it next goes on sale as it looks good on my shaving shelf. It shaves very well and if I were to compare it to a Gillette slim, I'd probably put it around level 7 or 8. Three passes with, across and against gave me a near bbs. I still feel that the 1912 gives me a closer shave but this is close.

Looking forward to a second go with this tomorrow.
 
I've used the standard now for the last 3 days, and I'm really liking it. It's light, easy to grip, easy to use and looks damn fine. Minds made up that I'll certainly get one when the next offer on Massdrop or anywhere else appears.

I'm almost ready to move this on so @Sabre, if you can pm me your details, I'll get this off in the post to you hopefully by the end of this week.

Glad you liked it. That's what pass arounds are all about. Go the Massdrop Standard Razor page and request another massdrop. The more people ask for it, the sooner it will be back on.
 
And it's winging its way over to @Sabre. I've put in a tub of Bluebeards Revenge shaving cream to the pack for people to try as it gets no love from me anymore as I prefer to use soaps rather than creams.

Well I picked this up at lunchtime from the Post Office depot. I had a shave as I was expecting a video conference call that in the end was just a phone call - the joys of working from home.

It seemed quite nimble, I am use to a Krona and the last DE I used was a Knack so the weight wasn't an issue. The razor is quite audible. There is plating loss as noted previously, so my preference would be Gun Metal.

I had a DFS using a Polsilver, Plissoft brush, home made shaving oil and êShave Lavender shaving soap. My usual set up.
I may go for a milder blade, but I did go ATG on my neck and had a weeper as a result.

My Aristocrat also arrived today, so after two more shaves with the Standard I will compare and see if it's worth while signing up for another Massdrop.

Thanks again for the opportunity to give the Standard a test drive...
