SOTD Wednesday 12th August 2020

Razor - Paragigm SE
Blade - Schick Proline P.30
Soap - Officina Artgiana Milano
Brush - Alpha Outlaw V1 Ti with Rhodium Silvertip (fan)
Post - Thayers Astringent
Frag - Tabac EdC

This was my second use of this soft soap from Italy, the first time I used too much water and didn't get a great lather but this time I was able to get a good lather, for the money it's a good enough soap but it doesn't stand up to my other soft Itallan soaps like Panama 1924 or Mondial but then again they do cost a little more, maybe this one I will put on BST! :)
A good close shave was had and I was left with baby smooth skin, just how I like it! :)

Untill the next time,

Paul.

PreShave: Warm to hot water, most from the boiled kettle some from the tap
Cream: TOBS Platinum Collection
Brush: Kent BK8
Bowl: My recycled T&H cream bowl
Razor: Futur
Blade Astra Platinum (5)
Post Shave: Alum

Fragrance: Floris JF

Back to my usual razor, to use as as a reference point for the past days. A smooth shave today, at 6 took of less than the r41 did, but much more aggressive than the Tiltshave. A good shave—in fact they've all been good this week. Stay cool in this heat, folks.

I have had my eyes out for this soap in a while, but have not yet tried it. Your thoughts now makes me wonder what to do...

It's not a bad soap at all and for the money you could say it was very good but if you are used to using the top tier Italian soft soaps you may find it doesn't quite do it for you! :) P.

When I started wet shaving my 2. buy was a Mondial soap. They where pretty good as I recall, but it's been years since my last visit. Maybe it's time to revisit, now that I have MdC and Signature Soaps as present references

I really like Mondial soap and I really like Panama 1924 by Boellis, the soap I used today I just like! I couldn't see myself reaching for it if I had the other soaps to hand. :) Two of my favourite Mondial soaps are Tabacco Verde and Bergamotto Neroli, superb :) P.

Vintage Wednesday
Pre: Cold water Facial Scrub with Whickams pre shave soap.
Brush: Simpson Duke 2
Soap: D. R. Harris Arlington
Razor: Valet VC1 Gold Tone
Blade: Despined GEM (11)
Post shave: Cool shower, Cold water splash, TC Bay Rum Splash #1
Balm: Floïd Aftershave Balm
Aftershave: Floïd SE Mentolado Vigaroso

It is a joy to use these ancient razors and the Valet VC1 is no exception. A very easy mod to the blade and you are off and running. For what looks like an aggressive shaving contraption it gives a surprisingly smooth, comfortable, close shave. For me it is a little more forgiving than a 1912 and easier to use as there is a wider shaving range - if that makes sense (not as angle critical).
A last minute change to the post shave routine swapping the Barts for Floïd and i am glad i did, smelling very Mediterranean.
Stay safe and enjoy the rest of the day All

Wednesday 12th August

Executive Shaving Fuar Ach Snog Preshave
Rex Envoy
Gilette Silver Blue
Yaqi Synth 24mm
TOBS Tobacco Leaf
Alum block
Fine Snakebite
Myrsol Emulsion

I've been noticing a little bit of irritation building up on my face this past week or so. So rather than going for total BBS smoothness with 3 passes, I decided to take a different tack today. One pass, plus touch ups, then see where we are.

To that end I loaded up with a fresh Gilette Silver Blue, kindly sold to me by Wingman in a qty of 100 for a song. The idea being if I'm gonna do a single pass, I'll need something a little sharper than my Israeli Reds.

The result? - A DFS or thereabouts. I may not be a smooth-as-ice hairless wonder, but I'm rid of the day's growth since the last time I shaved, and mr alum complained only a little when I was done.

Slowly, but surely, I'm making progress taming this beast.

How you gents shave with the much more aggressive razors with better results amazes me. Humbling to say the least.

Jayaruh Syn. No67
Tabac stick
Occams V1 / No3 plate
Feather Proguard ( 6 )
Tabac A/S lotion

Having a day out visiting wife's sister, a good long lasting Shave it required. This Razor has not got the kerb appeal of others, but it and the V2 without hassle deliver consistently good Shaves.IMHO the quality of finish today is up there with with those I get with my top AC/SE.

SOTD 13th August

Luxurious Lather - Yaqi Sagrada Familia + Catie's Bubbles Midnight Dreary
Razor - Star Model 100
Blade- Gillette Super Platinum 7'O Clock Black
Post - Boots Freshwood AS lotion and balm

Well this shave felt much better than yesterday's torture! I dont know if it was due to the blade's second use or only a 24hr stubble, but this felt completely different to yesterday. The Star was not as close as the Tech yesterday but provided a much smoother shave.
However, 10 mins after applying the classy Boots post shave, my skin felt like it had a proper going over. Felt like it'd been shaved with a rough, sharp blade. I had a bit of Alum feedback but not like yesterday.
On the plus, lovely post shave scent from the Freshwood and the lather was excellent. Midnight Dreary is a lovely, luxurious but subtle scent.
Stay safe people and enjoy the shaves

Just a question about these Valet VC1 razors. They are described as "autostrop" and some of the examples on eBay include a long leather strop. Presumably you don't need to worry about that if you're using modern disposable blades?
