SOTD : Saturday 19th June to Friday 25th June 2021.

German Wilkinson Swords have always been my #1 blade, it was also the first DE blade I ever used

I certainly used one when I first came to traditional shaving as they were very available, likely picked up from a supermarket. I switched to single edge very quickly, so really, I'm kinda new to DE shaving.

Back then, as an inexperienced (DE) shaver I probably found them too sharp and likely had a faceful of weepers. Now, I'm finding it very much to be the kinda of blade that I like ...

In terms of sharpness, it is VERY sharp. Smooth, too. Similar blades (to my experience) are indeed the Gillette London Bridge, but also there's the Lancet Sharp Edge and the Rise Stainless (Purple pack) along very similar lines. I think the Wilkinson is smoother than either of those, but both of those give a similar exhilarating shave whereas, say, the (Lord) Silver Star or the PermaSharp Super give very sharp, clean shaves but without the thrills.

Yeah, not a blade spoken about a lot but quietly a real cornerstone to traditional shaving.

Prep: Shower, Palmolive Olive Oil Soap
Soap: Tabac
Brush: 24mm Yaqi Sagrada Familia Tuxedo
Razor: 60's Gillette Tech
Blade: Feather (3)
Post: Alum, Tabac ASL

Today was the day the Feather dropped off a cliff! Fine on the face, but even WTG on the neck was rough as. Still, at least I smell nice! Awaiting delivery of a bevvy of blades to run through the Tech - all were on the wish list after trialing previously with my other razors, so perfect timing.

'Elephant Man Shave'

Pre - Cien Soap Free Face Wash
Soap - Lea Professional Cream
Brush - Yaqi Plissoft 24mm
1st Pass Razor/Blade - Yaqi Katana/Lord Classic SS (1)
2nd Pass Razor/Blade - Yaqi DOC/Permasharp (13)
AS - Cien Aqua

First shave in a week or so, late last week the side effects of my second jab were a little late to come through but absolutely wiped me out, not 100% just yet but today was the first day for a while I was able to stand for long enough to shave my face!

Onto the shave, I had a rare week's worth of growth so looked to my most aggressive razor in my rotation with a brand new Lord Classic SS blade, crikey it was an efficient shave! It mowed the week's worth growth down as if it was a day's stubble. Aside from a few stragglers I had little need for a second pass, I used another razor/blade to do so as I find the Katana a little tricky to shave under the nose with. I think the Katana is more than capable to create suitable results from a single pass.

Pleased with the results, and I'm feeling a bit more human once again, aside from getting rid of the hair on my face it's lifted my spirits a little

Sometimes a shave can be just a shave, today it was a little bit more.

Have a good day gents.

Williams Wednesday - 23rd June

The Grosvenor - 404 mixed
Williams Mug Soap
RR S/S Hawk V3 - OC
Kai CT Protouch MH [ 1 ]
Wiliams Aqua Velva A/S Lotion

Am trying out the Kai guarded blade in The Hawk V3-OC for the first time. I found the Shave to be very comfortable, and It cleared all the stubborn areas of growth from my quite strong beard without any problems. I am very pleased with the all round Top Notch finish attained, even dealt with the cleft on my upper lip which is normally troublesome.

Prep: shower with Nivea (Protect & Care) Deep face wash
Pre: SE Pre Shave Oil
Razor: Feather Artist Club SS
Blade: Feather Pro Guard (5)
Brush: EJ Silvertip Synthetic
S Soap: Zingari - Magician
Post: Baxter ASB

So its's day five on my new journey with a shavette and managed this shave again without major blood loss. I am still keeping the pro guards in and will be for a while as finding any dexterity in that left arm proves to be a challenge still.

The finish is acceptable, even got BBS on the left side of my face as that is served by my right hand. I keep r hand to r side of the face for WTG but for ATG I need to switch due to hair growth pattern.
First time using the recently acquired soap (thank you @Boycie83 ) and man it delivers. Easy lather, providing lots of slickness (exactly what I need for the shavette) with a fabulous scent. A great performer!

All in all I love the shavette experience. At the moment is not the end result that excites me but learning the skill.
With perseverance I will end up in BBS heaven with the shavette too.
The trouble with this new experience is that it opens more rabbit holes.......I only need to look a few posts up @Manumik and I'm all o_O

 looking forward to seeing more of your post exploring shavettes!
