Rooney 1/2 Faux Horn Finest (24/50)
Chicago shaving soap (vintage)
Paradigm 17-4
Wilkinson London Bridge (18)
Brooks Brothers aftershave

The old soap made excellent lather, especially for only costing $10. And even with the blade aging, the razor was very smooth and efficient.

And for the end of this week's SOTD entry from me comes a shave themed 'Short and simple'

IMG_20210212_143730.jpg

Short strokes - Stainless Mongoose
Short cut - Feather Super Professional
Short and curlies - Razorock 400
Short arm inspection - ADP collezione barbiere
Simple - Me

To cut a long story short

A God of a razor and one I still standby as one of the best razors on the planet. A total contrast to last night's blood fest and perfection delivered in minimum time with minimum fuss and maximum effect.

And the ladies are gathering to admire my smooth dapper looks......unfortunately

Have a wonderful weekend you folk of the forum and to see you all in, what else but some wonderful Japanese girlies

Prep: Shower, Palmolive Olive Oil Soap,
Pre: Pinaud Shave Oil
Soap: Rasozero Barbacco
Brush: Boti Brush 24mm Boss knot
Razor: Parker 22R Interceptor
Blade: Wilkinson Sword Black (3)
Post: Alum, Akcay Kolonya, Real Shaving Co Balm

After last night's discussion on here, there was only ever going to be one course of action today. I reigned in the Pinaud oil, and it was pleasant with the Rasozero - just had to be careful as the Parker did feel greasy. I'll know to take a step back and wipe my hands thoroughly before progressing next time. The Boti - even though synthetic - came up fiercer than the Yaqi and Ubersoft and was quite a shock for a first use. Not sure if I have really sensitive skin or if it's that I am over-zealous as I face-lather. I'll try it with Proraso Pre next time to see if that makes a difference. That's the blade done for me after 3 shaves. Just didn't quite pass last night's muster. But the Akcay was a lovely finisher so all good. Have a great weekend gents

Good evening everyone

Brush - ES Medium Jock
Soap - OSP Sandalwood
Razor - Yaqi DOC
Blade - GSB #4
Post - Barts Sandalwood
ASL - OSP Sandalwood

Well, an exceptional shave this evening, I get
my closest shaves with the Yaqi DOC.
This soap performs excellently; however, I don’t get any Sandalwood from it. I lathered up and asked Mrs Seaman and she said it smelt like a Yankee Candle Fresh Linen type of arrangement and very pleasant. I am useless at recognising scents so please don’t read too much into this.
Post shave was excellent and my face is feeling and smelling great.

Stay safe gentlemen (and ladies if you’re mad enough to be read my incoherent ramblings).

I get that sort of scent from mitchell’s wool fat
Clean & fresh like johnston’s baby powder,

Pre = Fitjar Island Charcoal Bar
Razor = Feather AS-D2
Blade = Kai ( 1 )
Brush = Yaqi Dice 24mm
Soap = A&E St Barts
Splash = A&E St Barts
Balm = L’oréal Hydra Power Anti Discomfort Post Shave Gel.

Not a great shave for me today.
was really looking forward to it,
The soap & Splash are class and just has A&E all over it. 10/10 on the scent.
if your ever going on holidays guys this is the bad boy to take, the smell of coconut & dried fruits is top drawer.
Anyway getting back to the shave it was the first use for the Kai blades for me
iv heard so many good things about them on here and to be honest i wasn’t impressed
5/10 perhaps a 6 but that’s it.
The first couple of strokes were pretty brutal then by the time i got to the other side of my face i started to enjoy it,
Then second & third pass were poor.
I felt the blade tugging like i had used it half a dozen times
i thought these blades we’re supposed to be sharp ?
I’ll definitely be using it in my next shave but i’m not anticipating anything better but i hope i’m wrong.
By the way don’t buy the balm it’s not the best, well it is a gel but still it would be a 4/10 on the balm front

I really like the Kai blade in the asd2 very similar to feather but I find them a slight bit sharper as the blade is slightly wider. First few strokes always seem a little rough with both Kai and feather then mellow out into smooth but sharp blades ! Perhaps it’s a duff blade ? Hope you find it better in the next one ! Can I ask what’s the fitjar islands charcoal bar like ?

My Maiden shave with the newly acquired Tradere - its been a long wait to pick one up. A massive thank you to @malc6552 and BST.

So, Initial impressions? He's a big lad, if the PILS is Thors hammer this fella is Zeus's Sledgey. luckily i have a mitt like a Silverback so it sits very nicely in there, the head is also quite large, again, as i have a heed about the size of a good winter cabbage all is well.
A wonderful lather mixed in the bowl and applied with a cloud of badger - niiice!
so 1st pass with the grain
1St reaction HERE
OOOOOh! Thats pretty darn good!
For me, not as much blade feel as the Blackbird and actually a step back in aggression, no loss of efficiency though, the angle was pretty much standard and after the first pass i was just about done.
I completed a second pass ATG then a couple of areas touched up, done! BBS.
I am pretty sure, i could, with practice get a 1 pass shave with this razor.
Its going to be fun trying out different blades and getting my face acquainted with it.
A nice post shave with a little indication from the Splash but all in all a very nice shave.
Stay Safe and enjoy your day all.
Lovely setup, im hoping the Tradere plates are available separately soon as I want to try the solid bar, not that I have a problem with the comb one I have.

I guess we’re all different but as you say hopefully the next shave will be better but for me it wasn’t sharp enough & it was basically tugging from the first stroke.
i’ll give it another go tomorrow.
The Fitjar Islands soap is top drawer mate it really is, everything they do seems to be class.
The pre shave charcoal bar is very small & pricey however iv had it 6 months & hardly put a dent in it.
It’s quite possibly one of the best pre shave soaps/oils out there.
This one is water based so no oily, scummy residue in the sink.
I got mine from @Executiveshavingcompany and i have to say when it’s getting near the end of i will buy a new one.
I make my own preshave oil now but i like to mix it up & the fitjar is what i’ll use.
If you haven’t used their creams you really must.
well worth the money in my eyes
