Interesting example on how things work in cases like these with spreading doubts sponsored by am guessing the fishing/hunting/whaling industry and governements feeling threatened by Greenpeace, not an easy task for a media consumer to get the complete story.

I've been looking into the disgusting things PETA and the ALF get up to to try and get their message across, these groups are as bad as Greenpeace, they are the people who tourture animals whist filming and put it out there claiming someone else is to blame just to get donations from people who take everything at face value.
These groups IMO are nothing short of terrorists.

What a load of bollocks. Synthetic brush contains less plastic than the garbage bags you go through in a week, while a single brush lasts for years and years. End of story.
Oh, some more bad news first. Those badger/boar brushes of yours? Guess what - they mostly have solid plastic handles.

Bad news back atcha, I use wooden handles, primarily vintage, can't beat the feeling of using razors and brushes that were made decades before I was born. I'm keeping them out of the landfill, and not making a new one.

That is exactly what they are, and their videos are propaganda that should not be believed, and they should be prosecuted for making them. It's all about their personal agenda and $$$.

Not the report I was looking for but it gives you an idea of the dirty low down things they get up to to try and make their point! Greenpeace, PETA, ALF, all the same, can't be trusted to give you the true facts. P.
Articles like this are usually sponsored nonsense, however even if true.

Lets be grown ups the slaughter of Animals for Brushes, Food, or whatever is Never going to be pretty rainbows and fairy sprinkles.

Well done Brian and Executive shaving , hope many follow suit.

You should also look into what goes on at PETA's "animal shelters", the mild version is that sick animals are left to die rather than given veterinary treatment, and healthy ones are killed rather than re-homed. If you really want to see the bin liners of dead puppies feel free to search the internet.

Not stocking badger brushes is Brian's choice and I respect it, however PETA are scum and far from the animal-friendly organisation that they pretend to be.

I've been to an abattoir in the uk because I feel (and this is just my personal opinion) if I eat meat I should know where it comes from and how it was dispatched so I know full well is not pretty rainbows and fairy sprinkles, so quite grown up I think.

I also wear leather shoes and boots and gloves, I also wear as many natural fibres as possible ie cotton and wool so I also found out how these products came to being.

As far as the article is concerned regarding the tourture of the seal pup it is 100% true, the man involved put his hands up and testified under oath that he had done this in exchange for cash from Greepeace so they could film it for their own ends, it a matter of record.

My main point in this whole post was to put across that groups like PTEA who ES put up one of their video's to be used as an example for cruel acts against badgers for the hair should not be taken on face value because PETA make their own videos of their own tourture of animals for shock value for their own ends.

I have nothing against people who decide not to eat meat or wear leather goods or refuse to use a badger shaving brush.
I have nothing against retailers who decide not to sell wool, leather or any other animal product,.
What I do object to is these types of unsubstantiated videos put out there by groups like PETA to try and make me look like the villan for choosing to in this case use a badger shving brush, I have tried Synthitic brushes and did not like them. P.

I really don't care for this argument. I have been using synths because they're just much better performers and easier to maintain. I'm no vegan (or an eco-maniac type), for me it's about reason and efficiency.

For me that misses the point.

The truth is the production of Badger Brushes , means the death of badgers , just the same as the production of meat means the death of animals , the production of milk fuels the death of very young calves, and the production of eggs in a big volume commercial manner means day old chicks get gasses or minced.

Those are inevitable facts of these industries I too have been in many abattoir all over Europe , sadly it was a part of the industry I once worked in , and if you have been in one Paul then I am sure you will back me up when I say nothing humane goes on inside one.

So of course we can attack the content but that doesn't change the reality , at the end of the day at that point as well informed adults the choice is ours either way.

"and if you have been in one........" I can assure you I have and It was as humane as it could have been, yes it was still killing an animal but an animal that was bread for meat production.
It was an abattoir local to me owned by the farm who reared the animals for food, afterwards the meat was sent off to the butchers, also owned by the farm.
So the whole process was performed by the same family who take pride in the production of rearing the animals through to the inevitable slaughter and sale of the meat.
I am sure there are abattoirs who's welfare practices are not as good especially in other countries but the one I visited was to my eyes as good as it can be and the welfare for the animals was reassuring. I only buy the meat I eat from this butcher, I would never buy meat from a supermarket simply because I don't know where it has come from and how the animal was reared and slaughtered.

Is there any meat that is not eaten in China, I'm sure that badger is on the menu. So that being the case the badger hair is a biproduct just as leather is or sheepskin is.
Ive been told by someone who has eaten badger that it's quite palatable but a little tough but that may have been because of the method in which it was cooked.

I'm guessing you are a vegan who eats no animal products whatsoever and you do not wear leather or any other animal skins, sheepskin ect and I'm not sure about the use of wool but I don't have a problem with your life choice, it's your choice and you should be allowed to make your choice without objection from anyone.

I could not wear plastic shoes and I'm not over keen on man made fibres so it's leather shoes and boots and I wear cotton and wool and try where possible to keep man made fibres to a minimum .

I would hope that you can respect my life choice to eat meat and to wear the biproducts of the meat as I respect yours who chooses not to.

Untill groups like PETA stop their dirty underhanded stunts that muddy the waters and fool the gullible we can not fully know the truth about bager hair but I'm as sure as I can be the badgers killed in China are also eaten, making the hair a biproduct, it would be strainge to think otherwise seeing as nothing seems to be off the menu in China.

Paul

Please don't get me wrong I respect your choice and I am not looking to make any comment on the choices other people make.

The abattoir you visited is the exception not the rule in my experience, the large commercial operations don't quite operate to those high standards. I am pretty sure eaten or not the animal welfare standards in China, as a rule will not be high.
