I'm happier now I've found a blade that suits the ECO. I'm now a bit more positive about this razor.

Great face and dome shave today. Broke out the new/old razor acquired at the Shave Collectibles Mtg in Cincinnati last month. It delivered a smooth DFS leaving me feeling clean and refreshed.

A very enjoyable shave today with the HFT E-Bar.
These razors need a little more respect than the new version SE's but boy , are you rewarded.
I love using the vintage Culmak Plus, its a lovely brush and works wonders in my Stephen Llewellyn Bowl, i used about an almond sized dollop of the Vintage Gibbs and mixed, it did seem very thirsty and i may have added a bit much, the resulting lather it gave me was wonderful and enough for the shave and some. The scent is still there although faint and it is sort of "old fashioned" clean.
The Audio feedback from the XTG and ATG passes just brings a wide smile to my face.
As i said earlier these razors need a bit more respect especially if i am not using them daily, the shave angle is easy to find because of the wonderful sound track.
I managed to pick up a small weeper (delayed) just under the chin on my WTG pass. Its all about the Angle.
Nothing much from the block and the Barts Balm just sorts everything out for me.
A splash of Copycat Executive and i am feeling very happy indeed.
I would class the finish as DFS++, i have been spoilt of late using the General & Vector although i have to say today's shave was very much as enjoyable and much more involving.
Have a great Evening All

It's been a tough week with not much sleep so I finished work early today and decided to refresh with a shave. I'm a big fan of the 3one6 and therefore in a minority. The GSB goes very well with it and 2 passes were enough to leave me content with the finish. I didn't feel the need to chase glass-smooth today.

The Eboracum has a really nice and light cooling effect from the peppermint but there's a warm note that comes through from the Cedarwood. It won't satisfy the menth-heads that want Baltic contact on their face but it's a nice unique scent that brings the summer and winter together. That's my attempt at describing the fragrance!

you'll have to ask @Satanfriendly for a poetic description but a blend of Summer and Winter sounds good

Fri 1st Nov
Simpson Chubby 1 / Maggards 2band
Haslinger Honig
ATT SE1 / Windrose Handle
Feather Proguard ( 8 )
Jaguar Prestige A/S lotion

Today really seeing how well the quite new to me Blade will last. Another comfortable Shave with a quality all round finish, no tugging etc , so on it goes. The little Chubby is great at teasing a lather from little soap containers like this one with the Haslinger.

Prep : warm water
Razor : Ying Jili
Brush : MÜHLE boar
Blade : HEMA*
Soap : Tabac original
Bowl : Just a bowl
Alum : De Vergulde Hand
After shave : Denim original

* HEMA are household shops. They still sell DE blades by their own name. I read on 1 of the forums that the blades are probably made by Personna Israel.
This blade gives a very smooth and effective shave with my razors. The Ying Jili looks like and old / classic Gillette, gives great shaves and was only +/- €1,70 including shipping at Alie.

Thank you Iain. I may take up your kind offer in the future. I'm still yet to lose my SE virginity and have an ER1912, Hawk V2, SS General, Supply V1 and Schick L to use first (yep, a bout of RAD earlier in the year!).

I'd probably call myself a fan of mid-road aggression, or Mr Average. I enjoy the Rex on #2-2.5, a Gillette adjustable on 5-6, the GC 0.84 and the EJ 3one6.
That is a fine selection of single edges - apart from the Supply and Hawk - I have the rest in the den - all very good razors in their differing ways - I think it is about time you lost your se 'virginity?' I was a bit apprehensive at first - but never looked back - for me - they are easier to use than de razors - blade choice was important in my experience - a Proline in the General raises it from simply excellent to genius - the modern Japanese twin blade in the Schick - ditto. Each to their own - see what works for you. Once you have worked your way through the razors - get back to me - if you want to try the Cobra - woahhahahaha - big scary laugh. Try an ER Streamline - I can help you out with that too - the very much more adult version of the 1912 - then the Cobra - yours - I.

Thanks Iain, much appreciated. As soon as the blade in the 3one6 is done, I'll give the 1912 a try.

Spot on with that Iain,
I started with the Hawk, my 1st SE then that was it, down the SE hole I went.
The vintage SE's are an absolute joy to use (for me anyway).
1st shave with a 1912 was terrifying - without cause.
I think I have more SE razors than DE's now, I have to push the DE's into rotation.
The Vector & General V2 sorted my RAD. Maybe just 2 more?
SAD is just about done ( about 10yrs worth).
Blades about the same.
I have not bought a razor, brush, soap or blade I do not get on with or dislike.
Hi my name is Tony and I have a problem!
The last time I shaved was about 8 hours ago.
I am taking it 1 hour at a time ;)

And the theme for today was 'You' re the one that I want'

IMG_20191101_094832.jpg

I have left the Austrian Hills behind, said goodbye to Julie Andrews behind and hello to Olivia Newton-John's very cute derriere.

olivia_newton_john-3.jpg

I got fluff
It's multiplying
And I'm losing control
The Phillshave you're supplying
It's not electrifying!

You better behave
Cause I need a shave
And my Feather is set on you
You better shave up
You better go with the grain
To my Hone I must be true
No Murdock left
No fluff left for me to go through

You're the one that I want
You are the one that I shave with
Oh, Hone Hone Hone
The one that I want
You are the one that I shave with
Oh, Hone Hone Hone
The one that I want
You are the one that I shave with
Oh, the one I would bleed
Oh, yes indeed

If your brush is filled
With cream selection
You're too shy to convey
XTG ATG direction
And shave away

I better behave
Cause I need a shave
I need a razor
Which can keep me satisfied
I better behave
If I'm gonna shave
You better prove
That my technique is justified
Are you sure
Yes I'm sure down deep inside my beard

You're the one that I want
You are the one that I shave with
Oh, Hone Hone Hone
The one that I want
You are the one that I shave with
Oh, Hone Hone Hone
The one that I want
You are the one that I shave with
Oh, the one I would bleed
Oh, yes indeed

So in basic terms

Brass Hone with long handle
Feather blade
Razorock 400
Murdock Avalon cream
Nature's Aid Witch Hazel
M&S Bergamot

One super close shave and smoother than the grease in John Travolta's hair. I do have to say that after a few weeks of use the brass Hone is a first class act and as good as anything else in the collection. A wonderfully smooth razor with a wonderfully smooth finish.

A very happy shave

So happy and if it's the one that you want then choose me. Which reminds me of some lovely Japanese ladies........

Have great weekend one and all

Soap: Signature Soaps Hibernia
Razor: OneBlade Core/Feather FHS-10
Brush: Razorock 400 synth
A/S: Nivea 2 Phase
Balm: Bart's Amber & Moroccan Jasmine

I'm off work today, struck down by man flu, so was in for my Postie to hand over a package from the former Colonies.

Inside was my bargain OneBlade Core, so having bugger all else to do other than watch daytime tv and YouTube I decided to take it for a spin...

So I whipped up a lovely citrussy Hibernia lather with the Razorock (a kind gift etc etc etc enabler in chief @Satanfriendly), inserted a blade and set about mowing my face.

This razor scores a big fat zero on the Rob998 Aggressiveness Scale of Blade Feel. I honestly was barely aware of its presence.

However, 3 passes later, not a trace of stubble remained. When I applied the A/S I got absolutely no sting, nothing, which is a first for me.

Just goes to show how a sharp blade in a mild razor can still do the job.

A little bit of Bart's Amber and Moroccan Jasmine, which is a great and reasonably long lasting scent, to finish off a really quite enjoyable shave.

@Rob998 you actually bought a bloody razor? Are you sure you didn't find it in my cabinet and bloody nicked it? Or did you get me pissed enough to persuade me to part ways with it?

Thinking about it I never had a Core so you must have exchanged cash for it.

Hi my name is Tony and I have a problem!
Ha ha - Hi Tony - welcome to the group. Thanks for sharing - the awkward shuffle of chairs in a community centre somewhere - anxious - sweaty hands wringing - very well shaved men - skin beautifully hydrated - smelling nice - is that Creed? - sit in a circle around the group leader - the first step to recovery is vocalising - we each have our own narrative - Do you need all that shaving porn? Absolutely goddam right - otherwise I'd look like some f***ing hipster c**t - w***kers - with their man bags and bikes that don't have gears. Shoes without socks? F**k that. Let us stand up for our dens! More product than we will need for a lifetime - bang on. I'm not going to live long enough to use up all of my stuff - but - I will never run out of Super Iridium blades - or several other types for that matter. I'd like to start a new movement - den pride - we could have a parade each year? ha ha ha - I.
