Fine Platinum after shave

I was put off a long time ago re. my 1914. Clearly, they were made for different blades (the wedge-shaped hone and strop models?). So I always got a bit blade movement...even when shimming. However, when choosing my razor this morning, I found it looking a bit sorry for itself at the back of my drawer. Guilt set in, so I lathered up, didn't bother with a shim, and did my routine.

Ok, a little bit movement away from the stops but, it really made little difference to the outcome; all I did was adjust the shaving angle - as we do. An excellent result; and certainly not worth consigning it to the back of the drawer!!

Delighted...'cos, whilst I know they're not like hen's teeth, you do have to dig around bit to get one in reasonable condition.

I may try a small rubber band shim, just to hold the blade a wee bit tighter when the gate closes. If not, no worries.

Omega 11126
Cyril Salter Solid soap
Schick E2 Canada
Schick Proline [ 7 ]
Pitralon Polar A/S Lotion

Today I completed my 3rd Shave with an Injector that only takes single blades. They all were loaded with Proline blades on their 7th outing. With the PAL Adjustable the Shave was very good wth a nice finish.
I was rather surprised yesterday by the Injecto-Matic, which is one of my favourites and though the shave was comfortable the quality of finish was not that good, so suspect the blade has run its course.

In contrast my shave today with the E2 was not quite as smooth but was very effective, and though caution was needed I had no problem attaining a truly close all round finish, with the blade looking likely to provide more quality Shaves.

Yaqi Sagrada Familia
Razorock Hawk
Schick Proline P-30 (1)
Razorock What The Puck Orange Sunrise
Nivea 2 Phase & Old Spice Wolfthorn

A great shave today, can certainly feel the difference between my old P-30 on it's eighth use and this new one on its first. The Yaqi certainly makes light work of this triple milled soap. Lovely citrus scent and goes well with the Wolfthorn.

Until yesterday it's been a week of so-so shaves, so I decided to carry on in a similar vein and end the week on a high.
Very, very nice it was too.
Happy Shaving one and all.

Moss Anniversary Slate scuttle
Rooney 2/1 Ivory Finest (22/56)
Acqua di Parma Colonia shaving cream (original)
RazoRock Mamba/UFO Little Titan
Wilkinson Light Brigade (2)
Acqua di Genova 1853 aftershave

The AdP cream makes lather that is not quite as slick as that of the original soft soap, but it is still excellent. The Little Titan handle is a touch shorter than I like, but its light weight is perfect for me. And the aftershave has a wonderful Mediterranean fragrance and is a great match for the cream, which is especially fortunate because my skin does not tolerate AdP aftershaves.

Rapira (swedish supersteel) 2
Vintage gillette with B.B knot
Haslinger honey
Pitralon a.s
Weleda balm
Undecided on the Rapira blade. It was smooth, comfortable & efficient in use, but there was a fair sting from the Pitralon which I don't normally get with other blades. A very good shave nonetheless. I really rate Haslinger soaps & have a few of them but the Honey model always seems to give me a slight 'burn' on the skin.

Friday 11th May 2018
Prep: Shower
Razor: Muhle R41
Blade: Gillette Nacet
Brush: APShave Co. SynBad Knot
Soap: Cyril Salter Tallow
Aftershave: Astral Cream (soft)
EDC: Penhaligons Quercus

This is my first shave with the SynBad knot from the Etsy seller APShave Co. My initial thoughts are that the knot is a little stiffer with less flex than I would ideally like but it is an excellent brush nonetheless, the knot is superbly set and really well constructed and the handle flawless; I suspect this brush would satisfy or probably thrill 95% of synthetic brush users but I do prefer my knots nice and easy to splay open; I suspect a few more millimeters of loft would help.

My daughter purchased a ten box of Penhaligons fragrance testers and gave me five to test before we swap with each other, this morning I tried Quercus which is very nice light and summery but is very fleeting (about an hours longevity) not helped no doubt by it being an EDC. This afternoon I tried Blenheim Bouquet which I liked more but it suffered the same problem (if you could call it a problem) I have had really good longevity from the Penhaligon EDP's.

Regards
Dick.

Rockwell 6C plate 4
Wilkinson Sword (English) 3
Floid Vigoroso AS

Three days growth sheared with ease .
A few drops of Lavender essential oil dropped on top of the soap before loading. I think I over did it as the scent was powerful.
Still, the shave was faultless. BBS finish was attained.
