Wickham Soaps

Funny how nobody would think twice about picking up soap while travelling or paying a fortune to ship them in. But when they are sold by a European vendor it's a different kettle of fish. By the time the manufacturer goes through the extra expense of certifying a product, passes that expense on to us, shipping/customs to EU vendors, and a cut for the vendor as well we're probably better off just continuing to buy them in from the US for less. The laws don't cater to small businesses and even less to artisans. So give up! Invest in shipping companies, they're a sure thing.

Regulations are here to protect the consumers and to a big extent the local business chain (suppliers, producers, transporters etc) by making it difficult for foreign companies to compete/undercut. This is a good thing IMO. We're talking about small things here, of course you can pick up a shaving soap abroad and never think twice about it but that's not the point. The point is that some individuals or companies try to find ways to circumvent the rules to gain profit. This, IMO is where the problem lies. It's only a matter of time until something happens or someone complains.

Used my Super Smooth, Bay Rum, last night for the first time in a few weeks and I was just blown away by it yet again.

Used my Omega 10098, thanks to Big Boar for the enabling, bowl lathered and had a fantastic lather with enough for man and dog. These seem to be a great pairing!

I will be getting myself a couple more Super Smooths come pay day and I really hope Fox can cut out a bit of market share as I would be devastated to lose Super Smooth from my shave collection as well as to lose a top quality British product from the market.

Tell us more please.

Edit. Are you referring ts the thread on B&B discussing FDA ingredient labeling requirements?

It appears that Douglas Smythe is fictitious and 'Hodges' makes both HTGAM and PPF, using Smythe and various other aliases to 'shill' for both soaps on forums, social media, the Sharpologist etc. Only the deceit has started to come apart especially after HTGAM/PPF have started to 'collaborate' (it seems that the 2.0 soap is essentially just the PPF formula once people became angsty about Synergy perhaps being melt-and-pour) and posters 'close' to Smythe realised they'd been strung along and decided to expose the fraud.

Seems like the old American snake oil trade is alive and well.

I tried a couple of Razorock offerings. I really have no desire to buy anything else from across the pond. From now on, i'll be supporting the UK economy and buying British, they're the best after all ;)

Some of the RazoRock soaps are actually made in the EU - some by TFS for example who are a well respected Italian soap maker.

A lot of RazorRock soaps are just other makers soaps rebranded.

correction... ALL razorock soaps are rebranded soaps from other makers. they are ALL made by italian artisans. TFS is a confirmed brand who make a large portion of RR's soap offerings.
