Get your facts right! Simpson do not sell the synthetic at premium badger prices. Check out their Chubby 2 badger & it's more than double the price of the synthetic http://www.shavelounge.co.uk/simpsons-chubby-2-super-badger-shaving-brush
It's not a Plissoft type knot, and the 25mm MÜHLE brush is only £2,50 cheaper. I guess everything synthetic apart from Plissoft fibres (hate them) in a cheap Chinese handle is overpriced by your reasoning? And IMO is way over priced for what is most likely a Chinese made Plissoft knot.

I paid damn near forty for the MÜHLE back in 2014. You don't have to work at NASA to do the math.
I am not a snob and the Simpson does not have a Plissoft knot, it's totally different & superior! No, there's just too much snob factor regarding Simpson's IMO. Yes, they are a great brush but do not warrant the huge markup. FWIW, my new Maggard 22mm black synthetic (Plissoft Noir) leaves my MÜHLE black fiber gasping for air. It's just a better brush IMO and only cost $11.95 U.S. I paid damn near forty for the MÜHLE back in 2014. You don't have to work at NASA to do the math.

Who said I don't own a Simpson brush or haven't used one? Did Dark Bulb bite you guys on the neck before his exit?

If it had more loft it would lose it's backbone.Superior is subjective, I have a RazoRock Plissoft and a Simpson Chubby 2 synth and I prefer the Plissoft. IMO the Simpson could do with a tad more loft to allow it to splay more easily. That said, I do enjoy both.

Alternatively increasing the density would help with maintaining the backbone if the loft was higher. They could just lift it slightly without turning it into a mop, a couple of mm would help to relax it a bit without affecting the backbone much.
