Merkur Mergress
Mem Super Silver Platinum (3)
Calani Oriental Plum
Alum Block, Myrsol Emulsion & Mr Perfume Roja Amber Oud

Photo taken a few days ago pre-bloom and clean of the brush. The brush is as good as I remembered, holds its own against it's bigger brothers, despite its size it ticks all the boxes. I had forgot how wonderful this soap is, lovely rich scent and superb lather. Last use of the Mem blade and I must say it surprised me how well it held up. May not be a favourite blade but it is bang in the middle I would say, on par with an Astra in my opinion. Gillette Rubie ready to try tomorrow.

Prep: Hot shower and L'Oreal charcoal face wash
Pre: Emu oil
Razor: Mergress (on loan)
Razor blade: Gillette Platinum
Brush: Romera Manchurian
Scuttle: Throne In Stone
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Mirto di Sardegne
Post: Thayers witch hazel and Pitralon Classic aftershave
EDP: Guerlain Heritage

Firstly a massive thank you to James AKA @Acer89 for sending another load of razors for me to try. You are a star and a Gent.

First out was the Mergress....

I used the Emu oil gifted to me by James as a pre shave. I applied it 5 minutes before the shave while I was 'fannying about' (technical term). It did add slickness (more about this in a moment) and seemed to soften the stubble.

The Mergress is a razor I've had my eye for a little while. It looks so much better than the Progress. It's amazing the difference a shiny knob can make. ;):p

Unfortunately I found the lack of any knurling on the handle to hinder the shave. This wasn't helped by the Emu oil I'd used. I did wash my hands and wipe down the razor again but I still found the grip lacking. I'll leave the Emu oil out on my next shave and see if the grip improves.

HOWEVER. The finished results were very good and found the razor to be very efficient with minimal touch-ups.

Thanks again to James for the opportunity to try it.

Have a good week.
Cheers
Rob

@Digimonkey Get well soon mate. This one goes out to you...

Blade: Astra SP #2
Razor: Muhle R89
Soap: Dr Jon's Flowers in the dark
Brush: Hans Baier 3 band silver tip
Post: Thayers Witch Hazel Lavender
Splash: Caldey Island Lavender
EDT: L'Occitane Cade

After yesterdays extremely close shave I opted for a gentle 2 pass shave today with the mild and comfortable R89.

First time with this soap and I love it. Deep complex scents with a lovely lather supplied by the ever reliable Hans Baier.

Ready for a nice relaxing Sunday evening.
Enjoy yours! :)

Sunday

Soap - OSP Neroli
Brush - RazoRock BC
Face lather
Razor - Feather AC Japanese Non-Folding
Blade - Feather Professional #1
Post - Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
EdC - 4711

Inspired by @Kevy and his recent Neroli adventures, I thought I'd try something similar. I was nervous about using a fresh Feather blade in the AC; but fear was unfounded. A great shave: 3 passes and a bit buffing under the chin and a great post shave feel from the OSP. The Neroli notes are picked up beautifully (albeit fleetingly) by the 4711.

Feeling smooth and not a molecule of blood let.

Razor: Colonial SS General
Blade: Feather Pro (1)
Brush: Wolf Whiskers Julie
Soap: Mike's Orange, Cedarwood, & Black Pepper
Post: Chatillon Lux Fourth & Pine

Fantastic shave with Mike's; slickness, lather density, and post shave are easily top tier. I've received my blade sampler pack from tryablade and intend to find a blade that works best for me. I've tried the Feather Pro Super and found it to be extremely harsh with too much blade feel. The Feather Pro felt much better; less blade feel and no irritation. I will test this blade out for another two shaves and then move on to another. I am looking forward to trying the Schick Proline; I'll save it for last :)

Moss Anniversary Slate scuttle
Paladin Somerset Winston Churchill SE (28mm/55mm)
Acqua di Parma soft soap (current version)
Delta Echo Ink Edition Feather AS-D2/UFO Colibri
Polsilver Super Iridium (2)
Acqua di Genova 1853 aftershave

This was the second day of my comparison of original Acqua di Parma Colonia with modern Acqua di Parma soap, using the latter today. The soap is white and less translucent than the original. It lathered easily, producing rich, thick lather. The fragrance was significantly less bright and less complex than that of the original. This lather had a light cooling effect, which the original did not have yesterday. Cushion and glide were equivalent, as was the excellent skin moisturizing. So on initial use, the most notable difference was the fragrance. Tomorrow I will use the original version again.

Sun 7th Jan
RazoRock Syn. 22mm
Tabac soap
Schick N3
Schick Japanese Twin [ 15 ]
Alum Rub/Rinse off
Tabac A/S lotion

As I need a quick dependable Shave without fuss it just had to be an Injector. I chose the
Schick N3 , and despite the blade being on its 15th outing the combo delivered a nice comfortable
Shave with an excellent close all round finish.
