I'll lead off with this weeks SOTD with an absolutely CRACKING shave.
Saturday shave (no rush)
Pre: Village Barber oil
Soap: RazoRock XXX
Brush: El Druida redwood handle, 24mm synthetic
Razor 1: J.A. Henckels "415" (Father's razor)
Razor 2: Ikon OSS
Blade: SuperMax Super Platinum (2)
Post: Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, followed by RazoRock XXX splash

An easy, cool & refreshing shave. 1 WTG pass with the 415, then 1 XTG pass with the Ikon. BBS in 2-passes...Wonderful.

Sorry have not taken a picture...

Vulfix Sandalwood cream soap
Vie-Long 13065 horse hair brush
The Anglo Saxon razor...Parker head with stainless steel post by Mervyn Cadman
Gillette Blue DE blade
Alum block
Arbonne after shave balm...very soothing with a nice citrus scent

The Gillette Blue does not have the same longevity as some of the other blades I've used. On the second shave it felt a lot rougher than what I'm normally used to with a Personna or Feather. Lately, I've had some really nice and smooth shaves with Merkur blades. I know they get knocked around in the forum, but I've had a great experience with them.

Happy weekend to all...

After 3 weeks of business trips and vacation, I was looking forward to shaving at home:

Saturday

Afternoon, gents.

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: EJ DE89
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Brush: Ecotools Kabuki
Shave soap: Mama Bear's GIT clone
Aftershave: Old Spice Whitewater
Cologne: Mama Bear's GIT clone

A good, refreshing shave.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch rebranded Simpsons best
1958 Executive/Wilkinson Light Brigade (NOS)
Jabonman ylang ylang SC (thanks Brian)
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
Dior 'eau sauvage' pour homme cologne (vintage juice)

I was about ready to give up on this shaving cream. First couple attempts with other flavors were nothing special and so this time I tweaked the method even more than before.

Used much more product than usual and more water. Whisked it a little longer too, making sure it had all dissolved into lather. Whew......that did the trick.

Lots of very good looking and performing lather. Scent on the three large samples Brian graciously sent out have all been a little strange and the texture is quite firm for a cream.

I was happy to finally give this brand a shot, but I don't think it's for me. Glad I used it again because the results was by far the best.

BBS results,

Martin

Also, this old blade is a top tier one for me.

EJ DE3D, BiC Platinum Chrome
Hand-carved Beech 24mm Two-band
RSC Shave2 Cream
Blue Stratos AS
Unrefined Shea Butter
Paul Smith London EdT

Quick & dirty but excellent all the same. :D

Cold water splash
Martin de Candre Unscented
Shavemac 177 Silvertip
Weber PH Bulldog
Astra SP (3)
Floïd Balsamo Dopobarba

Floïd balsam is working out well for me in this warmer weather... no alcohol, no witch hazel and no oiliness or stickiness. Leaves skin feeling great, and that's the most important thing.

Have a great evening everyone!

EJ 89l
King of shaves oil as pre shave
Gillette yellow blade
Bodyshop macca root cream
Proraso pre/post shave balm

Interestingly, I don't usually use the ej as it is so mild. I have been using a parker r96 which is more aggressive. With my technique improving I find I can get a decent close shave out of the ej now but not enough to warrant keeping it, I will shortly be selling or trading in order to acquire a muhle r41.

Bulldog Face Scrub
Village Barber Pre-shave Oil
EJ 23mm Synthetic Brush
Razorock XXX soap
Merkur 34G Gold Razor
Personna blade
Fine Orange Noir AS

Fantastic
