Restored Razors

Annoyingly Flickr fluffed up all my links a month or two back, but if you click on the link on my signature then look up the "Shaving" set there are some before and after pics in there.

There are electro-platers all over the place, tucked away in industrial estates. You may have to do your own prep and finishing. My local shop is happy to put my little pieces in with a bigger job for a cash settlement.

That said, they are not razor specialists like Dave.

Good luck in the new job!

I spoke to them all and they will work on razors. The one in Mexborough just does Nickel. I think I will take him a couple of razors as a test, the price he quoted on the phone was buttons. I won't take my best razors to him until proven.
The top two do Gold and Silver plating.

Well I've taken 3 razors to Prestige Electro Plating in Mexborough for Nickel plating.
I spoke to the owner who is still working at 78yrs ! ( there's a number of employees there.)
Had a good talk about what the company do. Interesting that Chrome plating was introduced In 1925 but wasn't commercially used until 1930 fitting in with some of the Gillette NEW Deluxes.
The company are happy to take work through the post.
I'm fairly confident the job will be a good one.

It would be better waiting for Dave
He knows razors and can do minor repairs, fit end caps and if you send him somthing that cannot be replated or beyond repair he's honest eon thing to tell you

I wouldn't take any adjustables to the regular plater only simple Techs and News, Old Types. Like I said I'm having some plating done on 3 razors as a test and the price is really buttons...
I've had maybe a dozen razors re plated by Dave and been very happy with the work done. I was getting ready to send some more in when this announcement came out. I like a plan and to know its 2 weeks, 4 weeks whatever not a maybe sometime in the future.
I'll start a new thread when I get the razors back with good or otherwise reports.
