Hi group,

Been a while since I posted here. Just wondered if there's anywhere selling the Monsavon Bol-a-raser shaving soap, here in the uk. I've found one person on eBay and another site that specialised in French groceries but both are a rip-off based on getting just the soap or a couple.

Any other places I could try or any France-based members willing to post to the uk?

The one listed isn't that bad is it? The postage looks accurate, and after the first one you buy it's £5.29 for 125g.

There is also frenchclick, but the delivery is £6 while the soap is £2.50

If you're only looking to try it, then take the hit and pay a bit extra for it, if you're looking to use it all the time then frenchclick would seem to be the choice - ordering 6 cakes of it and the cost is £3.50 a cake, which can't be bad can it?
 
Wow, I've forgotten how good this forum is.... barely 30 mins later and I have tonnes of replies!!

I am a fan of the soap - I first tried it in 2009, got several cakes after that, used them up and now here I am wanting more... :) Looks like frenchclick it is then ;)

The first column is the number of cakes you buy from Frenchclick, the second is how much each costs and the third column is the important one - and the one I'd look at to find the sweet spot. Sure it's nice to buy in bulk, but the saving isn't much once you get to a certain point.

The third column is how much you would save per cake by buying 1 more.

When you're at 6 cakes the saving is pretty much negligable.

That's highway robbery IMO. In euros that's €3.10. French supermarkets sell this stuff for €1.50~1.60 a tub. Been there, saw it, bought one. Nice shaving soap BTW. Smell is nothing to write home about but it's a decent performer. Good value for money - when bought in France.

The cheap solution is having someone bring you over some tubs to the UK. Palmolive Classic cream is very cheap and easy to find too...

I agree... once business-minded people see a market for something they jump at the sight of our wet mouths. It's a shame really as our French readers can enjoy it at their heart's content, but for us, it's quite a dent in the pocket. Fortunately though, my brother loves this stuff so I will see if he needs a puck or two.

Yes, I agree. I bought some tubs in France for € 1,29 per piece... We can not get it here in Holland either. Not even in Belgium (the French speaking part I mean). Seems it is only sold in France.

I have one stashed away if you want it , used one and found it did not agree with my skin , postage kill's it ,but, say £4.50p delivered U.K. , Pay Pal , if interested PM me ,

That sounds good! Let us know if they can do so. Not sure where they'll find them, but generally I've heard that these are widely available in France.
