I'm hunting boars!

Tried the Omega 98 for the first ti,e earlier but had to run out
before I could post my opinions.

Wow.

that's it.

the Cella might have had something to add, but its fantastically soft for
a boar and a brilliant face latherer.

Thanks BB and Baidley..I have a pif set up ready to go, cos this is a keeper.

Gazza got the 98, must have been a typo, it is a far superior brush to the 49, holds its backbone even when fully broken in. IMHO it's probably the best commercially available boar out there.

+1

Have to agree with that.

I have the Semogue 830, which I think is very similar to the 610, (in fact I used the 830 this morning)
At first was very pleased with it and has a great handle. However once broken in it does feel more like a mop and has lost much of its backbone. Is does feel very soft but moppy and it also seems to eat most of my lather.
On the other hand my Omegas are just as soft but have kept their backbone and perform just right.

Thats interesting, I'm finding mine similar. I stopped using my Silvertip because it was to much like a floppy mop and the 830 is going the same way. It still makes a cracking face/bowl lather though, but wouldn't mind try another boar, a little stiffer maybe....

Is this worth considering? I know almost nothing about brushes and another shaving soap and stand seems too good to be true really? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=271658245221&alt=web

Very much so - yon's a great wee brush. All depends on the seller, of course.

As to the best Omega, I'd plump for the 20102. That is, of course, if I hadn't hand-carved my own handle from Ash and inserted a large Omega boar knot......

Used it this morning in fact.
