Thanks M.

Not really, I normally shave with an iKon SK9, a Merkur 34G and a Muehle R101 (pre-2011).

These I bought out of curiosity, however the Dorco Pace XL shaves and handles pretty well.

The Cartier timepiece is pretty nice, especially aesthetically. However y'day I made the mistake to get into the local Patek Philippe boutique (I am in Dubai). Tried 4-5 pieces, but one of them, the 5712G ($44k) made me reconsider everything I knew so far.

I'll just sell a few pieces now, this one is the next purchase...

That sounds like a serious watch, indeed :D ... Okay, you can keep your DEs, since you use them, I'll settle for your straights then :D :D

I'd love a Patek Philippe, K. They are beautifully understated.

Please post many, many pictures if you get one!

K you are still a man of fine taste. Bummer when you try something you like and then have to hand it back.

Nice timepiece, last time I bought a watch abroad I wore it home, had awful thoughts of bag going missing or getting kicked about.

My acquisition this week was some more persona blades.

New forum member here. Have only been double edge shaving for about two months now.

Seeing it's my birthday this week my wife bought me (at my request!):

Geo F Trumper Coconut shaving cream
Mitchells Wool Fat Ceramic Dish and Shaving Soap
DR Harris Milk of Cucumbers and Roses cream

I'm well chuffed. It will be nice to have an alternative to the Palmolive stick I've been using so far!

That's a nice haul - I'm sure you'll enjoy them. One thing about this traditional shaving lark is that it make birthdays easy for your relatives!

Just been to town.

Looked in John Lewis'.

Picked up tubs of TOBS Lemon & Lime, Sandalwood, Almond and Sensitive as well as Acqua Di Parma Colonia shaving cream.

I surprised myself when I put them all back and kept my money in my pocket ... but I will get another AdP, eventually, probably.

Is John Lewis still 'Jessop' in Notts, or is it now a proper John Lewis?

Some acquisitions from the last two to three months, when I could not post:

Nothing shave-related this week. Blown some of my paycheque on walking/climbing gear instead:

1. Gore-Tex Pro shell jacket; a bit OTT on the technical side but I'm keen on doing a bit more next winter - reminds me I need to get my ML sorted. I'll be spotted from a mile away in that colour should anything go wrong too...

2. Windproof Paramo smock for summer walking at a decent price to replace my Berghaus RG1 which has been water-repelling rather than -proof.

3. 26L daypack to fill the niche between my Berghaus Munro (bombproof but not particularly comfortable) and Osprey Kestrel 48 (for multi-day).
