Shave of the day, Saturday 8th- Friday 14th April 2017

@Blademonkey - that's a handsome set up mate. I've never been anything other than delighted with Meissner Tremonia products. I have a few. The Dark Lime is probably my favourite - not withstanding the odd lather colour - although the Black Beer is a close second. Lavender when I'm in the mood. Exceptional post shave feel - probably no need for extra products but where's the fun in that? Slight downside - heavy glass jar, slippy hands, bare feet and a tiled bathroom floor. Health and safety nightmare. I.
Thank you, another favourite is "Strong N Sottish" I love that scent.

@Blademonkey - Ironically - given my ethnicity - I've never tried it. It seems to be the one that sells out the quickest. I'm torn though - probably a great soap but also might it be a waste of a dram? I could think of other things to do with whisky than put it on my face. In a similar vein - I have been intrigued by the Essence of Scotland Highland Bothy soap. I've spent quite a lot of time over the years in actual bothies in the Highlands and - looking at the scent profile - the real thing - sure as shit - does not smell like that. I.

I have the highland Bothy soap and I like it, I will have to take your word on how a real highland bothy smells but I bet the soap smells better! :)

Razor: Gillette Black Beauty (R-2) 1971
Blade: Personna 74 Tungsten Plus (12)
Brush: El Druida Barberpole w/Manchurian
Soap: Eufros Brisa da Oriente
Aftershave: Stirling Executive Man Balm.

Very successful 3 passes with a minor touch up for a near BBS. The Eufros soap performs better each time I use it. I very much like the Stirling Executive Man Balm.

Great shot, is that on your land?

Razor: Fatip with ATT kronos handle
Razor blade: Polsilver (2)
Brush: Thater
Soap: Fine Italian citrus
Aftershave balm: Dove Sensitive

The Fine soap was excellent in every aspect. Loved the scent, close Aqua di Parma coloina.
It lathered up quickly and there was enough protection, glide and cushion.
A big thumbs up from me.
Can't wait to buy the splash to match...oh and probably the Platinum soap too.

Thanks to @Blademonkey and @Benz3ne for the recommendation on the soap. You were spot on.

Cheers
Rob

It could only smell better - nobody in their right mind would launch a grooming product that was an accurate scent. They smell damp because they are not permanently occupied. There is a nice habit of leaving surplus food for the next person - but this is hung from the rafters so the rats/mice don't get to it. I can count on the fingers of one offensive gesture the number I have been in that had any sort of combustible material locally. They tend to exist in barren landscapes. Those few that do have something to burn around them - you will need to carry a folding saw and pack axe to harvest it. Not quite - 'The fragrance captures the scent of a welcoming Highland Bothy's peat open fire." That being said - bothies are a great resource in Scotland - looked after by the SMBA. A roof over your head in appalling weather is worth a lot. Off and back on topic I hope. I

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

1964 Macys rebranded silvertip flopmeister
1958 Executive/Feather
TGQ bay rum with sweet orange oil SS
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
Givenchy 'Xeryus' EdT (old juice with plenty of oakmoss)

Probably 4-5 shaves with the blade but still fine. Perfect match up with this old Exec that's similar to a Fatboy but in gold and with nicer knurling like the Toggle has.

The soap's one I have been loving for 7-8 years or longer. Great scent and performance.

BBS results,

Martin

Yes I'm sure no matter how they smell they would be a welcome sight when you are wet, cold and in need of shelter, it certanly is a great resource to have out in the wilds. If you had the time you could travel from bothy to bothy knowing you would be out of the weather, sounds great, if only I was 20 years younger! :)

Seems like an excessive water hazard? Are there bears too? Penalty drop annulled if you're mauled? I.

First go with the Maseto 30mm Fan in Finest and I'm encouraged by it so far. The knot has great backbone and density but soft tips, the way I like it. A bit of a lather hog of course but these type of knots take a bit of time to be tamed.

Mate - accessing this stuff has nothing to do with age. As long as you can walk. Easily accessible by public transport - I can recommend an over nighter to you in the Highlands. Train up - bothy night - walk out - train home. You'll see some massively good scenery in the interim. Off topic - If you fancy it get in touch. I.

Thanks very much. Not my land. This is on a golf course I am a member at.

There are bears, but they pretty much keep to themselves. You just have to be cautious if they have cubs.

No shit - I admire your relaxed attitude to bears. That would terrify me - to be honest. That's a half a ton of highly intelligent, omnivorous flesh. Do you carry a rifle? A well aimed sand-wedge isn't going to provide much protection? I guess you get used to it if you live there? As you say - don't f**k with the cubs. I
