Paradigm Ti/Voskhod :: The Varlet Orion :: Wickham's 1912 Magnum :: B&M Classic
Terrific shave today. I was fortunate to pick up the Paradigm second hand. Paired with the Voskhod (3rd use btw) the performance was excellent. It's only one shave but it felt as close as the Timeless or Blackbird, wow. The feel in hand was perfect for me, as I have some issues with grip so often prefer Ti handles with SS heads. Of course the 1912 lather was superb and post shave feel was as good as I could ask for...didn't really need the after shave but went for it anyway.

New fragrance purchase @Norfolkdick?
Greetings Ross

Indeed it is and a bit of a result; I purchased it from e bay and paid less than two thirds of the allbeauty price, I was somewhat hesitant after reading that Dior Homme (in it's several forms) is the most counterfeited male fragrance! The seller had 100% positive feedback so I took a punt, no question that it's genuine albeit it is a tester not that it matters.

A couple of weeks back at Stansted airport I tried the Intense, the standard Dior Homme and the Perfume, there is no question that the perfume has the most longevity but I liked this more as it is a little less sweet and the Iris is more prominent than the perfume. I made a point of not purchasing it at the airport knowing I would get it cheaper but I did't think this cheap! I also found at Stansted and tried Sisley Eau D'Ikar and also bought that off e-bay, again no problems but you do need to be careful.

Regards
Dick

I just love the retro look of that handle, it looks like the style some of the old German slants used. Nice to see someone making a Titanium razor with a real old school look about it, certainly to my eye the best looker of the "new breed" of razors.
Perhaps I am just a lover of traditional razor styles. I'm glad you are getting on well with it.

Regards
Dick.

So this morning was another shave with the cream and balm to follow up:

Hot Towel, BBA Cream, Cadman 26mm Silvertip, Muhle R41, Shark (1), Cold Rinse, BBA Post Shave Balm

Now I'd been meaning to switch out the handle on the R41 for a while, and today I stuck a very heavy stainless handle on the head, loaded with a fresh blade. I face lathered the BBA Cream, and one thing I'd like to point out is that the cream takes a lot of water. This is a good thing as it introduces hydration throughout your shave. The razor and cream combination today provided one of the best shaves I've had in a long time. Smooth, slick and scarily efficient. This is an aggressive razor at the best of times, but applying the heavy handle, it transforms the razor into a super razor. Combined with the rich creamy lather, it's a match made in heaven. No nicks, cuts or weepers meant there was no need for the shave matches, so I headed straight for the balm. This added a level of decadence to the shave.

I'm hooked.

Ok, spill the beans, what's the other Razorock synth brush you're going to use?

I'm eyeing up the Razorock 400 but I'm thinking it is firmer/scratchier than the Razorock "plissoft" Bruce; and I'm really looking for a brush as soft as the L'Occitane synth so was looking at the Bruce. But you're saying the 400 is a softy.
Let us know how your other brush compares.
It is soft but as I said, it's a good brush. I think you'll get on with it if you're after a softy. The other razorock is the 'barber handle', haven't used it yet though. They both look good & are very comfortable.

It's a great fragrance Dick. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on Sisley scent. It's a brand I've never been able to sample.

Semogue Synthetic Barbear Clássico LE
Lavanda Shaving Cream
Gillette Aristocrat 1946-1947
Feather
Thayers Rose Petal
ASL Proraso Green

Finally, after a 4 days hiatus I had the opportunity and time to treat myself to a shave... Ufff Crazy work week behind me. At last... Offered myself a fantastic shave with some materials that I know can't go wrong. And I was right. Even on a 4 days beard the Aristocrat/Feather couple was efficient while smooth. The Lavanda shaving cream is one of my favourite along with Veleiro, with great lavender aroma, and great performance lathering. Proraso left me fresh and with the skin well treated with no sting and just the coolness feeling over my face. Ahhhhhh

EJ 89L
Astra blade #3
Proraso pre shave
Ingrams cream
Freshwood balm
Brut A/S

First time using Ingrams cream.
Disappointed to see it was really runny. I leathered up a generous "dollop" of the runny goo, and it made a really thick lather. I mean REALLY thick!
I was expecting it to be really menthol scented but it wasn't .
It felt cold on my face after it was applied which was quite pleasant.
I think I've got the right angle with the DE89 now. It didn't feel like it was dragging tonight.
Three pass shave with no faults, so my technique is improving.

Brush:
Omega 21762
Razor: Parker Variant w/ Supermax Super Platinum (1)
Soap: Proraso Green
Post: Boots Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera Gel & Proraso Green Aftershave

Having listed the razor yesterday, I have had a change of heart and it is having a stay of execution until Sunday. I changed blade for today and used products that I know are good i.e. not crap like the Willliams shaving cream. Same shave as every other day only setting 2 for everything except ATG which I dropped to setting 1. A marginally better shave I thought, still get the little micro cuts under my chin but I get that for a lot of razors. For me the Supermax felt a less harsh blade in the razor than the Polsilver. I will try the blade again tomorrow then switch it out for either a Rapira or Voskhod. I really want to like and get on with this razor.

Happy Star Wars Day chaps! Live long and prosper.

Sorry, daft question warning........is the Proraso a/s in the larger plastic bottle - the same stuff in the smaller glass bottles? My favourite a/s, always wondered about buying in bulk. Ta.

Yes exactly the same. Although the big bottle looks nicer and cooler and buying large amounts can be cheaper, if you got a selection of Aftershaves and your rotation is large, you better of with smaller bottles as the chance of the A/S going off.

Pre Shave: Hot Shower, L'Oreal Hydra Power Face Wash and Proraso White
Razor: iKon 101 + OSS handle
Blade: Gillette Stainless (#1)
Brush: Mason Pearson Super Badger
Cream: Crabtree & Evelyn West Indian Lime
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Humphrey's Witch Hazel
AS: Nivea Originals balm.

I had not used a Gillette Stainless blade before and it being one of cheaper Gillette blades I was not expecting that much from it, well I was pleasantly surprised. Fantastic shave today, this blade seems to work well in the 101.
