Just be careful if trying to buy blades from ebay, as there are a lot of scrapper blades looking just like GEM blades.

My experience with them is the exact opposite. Timor are perhaps the best blades I have used so far (I have tried a lot of brands), and among the longer lasting. I have dense and strong facial hair, the kind that casts a shadow in the face even after shaving, and still I can get 4 great shaves...

Well, I have been told that the plastic base plate is smoother than the nickel one. I am the proud owner of a nickel base plate, and I find a bit rough, dot quite know why. I never tried the plastic one.

I have read somewhere that the IKEA mineral oil (the one advertised for cutting boards) does the trick. Tried it and so far I have no complaints whatsoever.

Exactly this. I also like using plates 5 and 6 on the occasion, specially if I have 2-3 days growth. They are still smooth, although with more blade feel.

I have tried one of their shaving creams, they gave me a sample at the store. It was a brushless cream. Not bad, not fantastic either, a little short on protection. Anyway, I enjoy lathering, and non lathering stuff puts me off a bit, so I gave it away for some friends to try it.
