It is quite possible. I have that set but with a 'New' RFB and the open-end ball-ended handle.That was a special edition, with an upside-down baseplate.
Could it be Gillette using what was in the parts bin?

That is true! I should perhaps use mine with the original handle more frequently (my preference is the head on a heavier stainless handle) lest the head go dull and the handle remain shiny, shiny?The Hybrid Tech is rhodium plated so even if they have a fat tech handle it won't look right

Gillette marketed the rhodium as a "tarnish proof precious metal" and from the hybrid Techs and Aristocrats I've had I'd say that's correct, a quick buff and they sparkle like new even after 70 years so you should be fine
