Has anyone got any experience of them before hand? Are they liable to be made of second hand Lada Samara wings?

Never heard of them. Are they vintage blades?

Im also waiting for some of these Leningrad ones to pitch up.
Again, I wonder if old Moskevich parts have been used to make them??

Always a good idea to try blades from different parts of the globe. After using maybe tens of different makes I learned a valuable lesson, and that was to stay away from any vintage blades :?

I've never used a vintage blade but I've used the Treet black beauties (carbon steel). They were smooth but barely cut any hairs.

I imagine vintage blades would be like that (and rust easily) and leave your face more raw as most wouldn't have any coating.

There is also their nostalgic value (at least to me).

I have one vintage Gillette Blue and one vintage Ever Ready (a DE blade) and I'm keeping them!

Both the WOdX and Leningrad blades turned up on Friday and will be photographed and road tested shortly. The WOdX blades look frighteningly cheap, cheap card box ( you know the sort of stuff- almost looks coloured in by felt tip pen) and lots of Russian script on the box and blade, the Leningrad ones just say "Made in the USSR" on the box in English, which makes me think they were designed for export rather than the home market of the WOdX.

Expect some of these to be offered up for a PIF soon unless they are supreemley good!

Re Vintage blades - the worst one I tried was an S3 date coded Gillette Thin (red/black packaging) which scraped like a blunt rusty stanley knife blade. On the other hand 80's stuff seems very good indeed.

I hope you can read russian, it probalby says something like:
"If you are stupid enough to try these blades, you will die a painful death! - Blades for decoration purposes only."

The USSR ceased to be in 1991 and became the Russian Federation, so either the blades are pre 1991, or (just as likely) the printing presses are pre 1991 and they never bothered casting a new die. Velly intellesting, meester Bond.

I would love to read your review of the 'Stanley blade' shave. Why you would use a blunt, rusty one is beyond me...but RESPECT.

Well i liked the standard Rapira, and was hoping they'd be like that. I've already pulled the trigger on one pack so will find out soon enough and let everyone know what i think. Will also be interested to see what the OP thinks of them
