Vulfix prices

I think that the prices charged for many higher end silvertip brushes are ridiculously high. Here is just one example:

This is the Vulfix 2235 Super badger:

And here is the same brush with a silvertip knot:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.vulfixoldoriginal.com/products-detail.asp?CatID=1&SubCatID=22&ProductID=6" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.vulfixoldoriginal.com/produc ... roductID=6</a><!-- m -->

Including VAT the price difference is £97.64

I paid about £90 for my recent purchase of a Simpsons PJ2 with the top of the range super knot.

How on earth can an extra £98 be justified when the only difference is a silvertip knot compared with a super knot in the same handle?

Very difficult to justify a differential like that Peter but as long as people are prepared to pay for it the manufacturer will milk it.
Manufacturers often claim its necessary to margin mix to ensure that people get real value at the bottom/middle end of their ranges and that they hit their profit target.

My Omega 21047 and it's silvertip counterpart isn't so ( only 2x it's price ) but then again it's probably due to geographical difference among other things.

Worked in sales my friend. So long as customers are willing to pay these things will hardly change ( if at all ).

Check ebay look at the price Filarmonica's are going for. I don't have one but even if I'd the money I'd rather spend on something that had better scales instead of cheap plastic. Sure the company's foreclosed but outrageous prices driven by n00bs or ignorant people don't justify its price. If I won't buy it someone else will. There's always buyer for any market.

Truth be told I bought a custom Livi Japanese inspired razor from reputable vendor but I've had personal issues with said vendor ( as did many others ) and no longer choose to shop with them. But to the point: the Livi was priced at $450. Was it better than any of my razors? Hell no. If it had been honed properly by said vendor perhaps I wouldn't have sold it. Left a bile taste in my mouth. My Japanese razors that cost half that were better. Not to discredit Livi's craftsmanship, it was the honer who was at fault.
