vintage brush! help needed

just acquired a 1940's bakelite travel set!
the brush has lost the bristles/badger
it would be nice to restore the brush to keep the set original!
is this possible?

Some of the Bakelite brushes unscrew at the bottom and the knot comes out, if it is one of these then I don't know of a stockist for that knot type but maybe one of our more experienced brush restorers will be able to advise if you post a picture.

Should be fixable BUT bakelite is quite unstable and may shrink, crack, warp etc. so you may just want to find a brush that fits the set and replace it.

It's possible but if you cannot remove the remnants of the knot easily its a pain, as Rev O says the plastic could be fairly brittle and you will need to remove it carefully.

sorry folks i didn't explain myself very well!
although the travel set (ie 'containers') are bakelite the brush handle is porcelain!
i have been able to remove all remnants of the brush and adhesive!
i hope this makes a difference

If youre planning on keeping your brush in the travel container then you'll need to pay attention to the height of the knot you buy.
You're probably looking around 16-20mm base and 50-55mm height.
