The cost of my local chips have increased from 90p to £1.60 for a small portion and gotten a lot smaller. They also switched from tallowy goodness to vegetable oil. Sound familiar?Oh well bread is still cheap as chips.

I think what has happened, is since it was finally declared that butter is not as bad for you as first thought, everyone has jumped on the bandwagon, left the "Too Good To Be True" gloop for example and the vendors thought.....So, butter is cheap as chips now?
What I don't get: butter is made from milk - and milk hasn't gone up... has the process of turning milk into butter become more expensive? Hardly. Any honest butter vendors left out there?

In short - the best explanation is to blame 'The Great British Bake Off' - seems most plausible
