Upgrade my razor

I'm in the same boat as you - looking to upgrade from a WS Classic.

From my research it seems you can't go wrong with the Merkur 34C HD as a good starter/all rounder so will probably go for one of them myself.

My first DE after the Wilkinson was the 38C (34c was out of production at the time - but i eventually got one), both are good razors, particularly at the beginning of your DE journey.

As they are hefty, they allow you to just use the weight of the razor alone to provide all the pressure you need for a decent shave. Naturally this is only one side of opinion, there are those who favour lighter razors, where the pressure is provided by the user - wrong of course
