Umbrella

I have decided to get a new umbrella that should last a few years rather than darting into Sports Direct for a cheap Golf umbrella when I get caught in a severe rain storm. I always leave these behind on trains...

There appears to be a few reputable brands but enormous differences in prices:

Blunt
Davek
Fox
Fulton
Swaine

Any brands you would recommend?

A few more British brands:

James Smith & Sons
Lockwood
London Uncover
James Ince

I am interested in the last two. James Ince looks really interesting.

I've always bought umbrellas from Swaine Adeney Brigg and Smiths. That was when I lived in London, but I haven't bought one since moving to the country (where umbrellas are usually carried only by clergymen, or used to be). One thing to look out for is the ability to have them recovered and repaired. I used to put a tiny bit of lubrication on the joints, which is where they usually rust and break.

My favourite umbrella is my grandfather's (born 1872), which has been recovered countless times by Smith's.

Got two of Swaine Adeney Brigg's (golf type) had them for over 35 years still perfect condition; also had a lovely one from Austin Reed (remember them?) but unfortunately left it on a train; had a lovely polished wood handle (still not fully got over it).
