Here you are PC...I bought my 9200 years ago it was a refurb but its been running fault free for years and it looked like new. I changed my hard drive for a larger one so it might be worth considering buying one with a larger drive for the money. I think the 9150 is pretty much the same as the 9200.

Thanks Tony, I've just bought one, should arrive Monday! :D

I thought I knew I was getting old when I found school girls' mums attractive. Now I know I'm getting old cos I can't make a choice between blu-ray/HD/DVD/Sky HD/1080 or the other one/etc.

What did you go for in the end?

Refurb, John Lewis or Richer Sounds?

That's a bit impulsive of you isn't it? ;)

This little baby!!

I've had a freeview PVR (= HD recorder) for a few years now I can honestly say it's the second best bit of kit I own (after my Mac).

The programme guide shows you what's on which channels at what time, setting recordings is easy (no VCR timers, just highlight the show on the guide and press record) and the pause/rewind/ffwd all make VHS look useless. Basically if a video recorder is a walkman (tape-based) then this is an iPod.

I hardy watch any telly (news, weather, antiques roadshow, sometimes a documentary) but the ace thing about this is that it's got all the digital radio stations on as well, so I record the Archers off the "telly" and "watch" it at a later time (yes, I could use iPlayer but you get the idea.)

BTW, PigCat how's the old ball bag? Hope it's mending.

Oh, yeah, thanks Tony - I forgot to update you.

Your advice was spot on: I plugged my parents' (same model) in at my house and voila! same problems. So I looked checked the aerial* connections - co-ax terminal in the living room wall was all there and the cable seemed to run up inside the cavity. So up to the loft where I found . . . nothing. Nix, nada. No aerial at all.

Called a man who fitted an HD/Digital ready one for £80 all in. And job's a good 'un: perfect reception all the time.

* Re tv aerials. There's lots of semis round here that share a roof. Recently two tv aerials met on the one roof and fell in love. I did the wedding at my church, which was lovely. But the reception was amazing.

 Well that explains why you didn't watch any TV and just listened to the Radio.

What's "The Archers" about?

...Robin and his merry men getting hammered on Peach Schnapps.

Reminds me of the time our two chimney pots got married. They soon had a baby chimney pot, and when he got a little older I heard shouting on the rooftop. Mum and Dad were telling him off because they'd caught him smoking.
