Tilley Hats - Wax Cotton

Having recently been bitten by this I though I'd just pass it on!

The Waxed Cotton used by Tilley at least in the TWC4-7 hats is a "modern waxed cotton technology" that can be washed.

This means that,
  • It isn't actually waxed
  • It isn't any more water proof than any other thin canvas
  • Actually maybe a bit less?
  • It will not become "leatherlike" in appearance as it ages
  • Can only be re-proofed with wash in/spray on cotton proofing.

I'm more than a little annoyed at this and their customer service department appears to not want to answer my last email. To make it worse it was a gift, all in all a bit crap for a sixty quid hat.
Be warned!
