Hi Fozz
Does look interesting. Do you reckon the handle tightens the head when seated?, looks as if it could be a bit iffy if wet. Does look robust in it's construction mind you. Germanic!

PILS copy but with open comb and 1/3 the price.

I believe that is how they work rangers. Folk that use the originals do not complain about the handle been slippery, I agree they do look different. Will be interesting to see what it goes for.

I have the Pils closed comb and depending on the blade it can have a bit of a bite, this might sound great but there comes a point where a razor can be a PIA if made to aggressive. I have used the Pils for a few weeks now and got some really nice shaves with slightly sharper blades such as the Kai and Super Thin but I have found other sort of sharp blades like 7 o'clock yellows gave me a bit of irritation. This is in contrast with the Feather which demands a sharp blade; the Feather makes even the sharpest blade a pedestrian affair. I think there will be a line with the Pils that I will find suits me, just haven't established where that line is for me yet.

As Antdad said this is a Pils clone with the addition of the OC, it might be the ideal razor for some or it could be that little bit too much that you end up restricted to milder blades. With my Joris OC I find it very easy to over shave an area, particularly the neck line so I tend not to use it as often as I would like and usually with Red IP's or Crystal, the "safe" blades and the "safe" soaps and creams.

I would love to try this OC version but that has to wait, ma pockets cannae take any more.....for now....

Still nice find Fozz, thanks for posting.

And yeah there is not a real slip problem with the matt version I have, still not as sure in the hand as the Feather but if you find no problems with a Futur then this finish should present no issues. However some say the Futur is slippy in their hands so it's horses for courses.

I notice its at $96.00 and the reserve has not been met. The pic with the blade in certainly looks like it could have a bit of bite. Could be the angle it was taken at.

Indeed, last time I tried to set a reserve it said the reserve had to be £50 or more so I assume he is sensible enough to set the reserve to cover his costs plus a bit of fat, I would do the same.

The picture with the blade is sort of the same as how the Pils looks with one; the blade has virtually no bend in it. It sits on a flat bed and the cap only holds it in place. Who knows how this will shave but I am sure someone will.

I knew that was Pil'z copy razor!
for $100 how much more is the original..I believe the original would be shipped from Germany where it is made

Blades

The original is €175 plus shipping (no idea how much that is).

There are a few US stockists and a few German ones that I know of.

Aggression wise what are we looking at here? A Rocket HD is not for everyday use for me, couple of days growth, sublime! Same with the Feather Portable, that is a razor with bite. Strange as I can dial a Slim or Fatboy just about all the way up and don't have the same problems. This is a fine looking razor all the same, any ideas on an equivalent?

Dunno Gers,

In most cases Open Comb means more aggressive, however it is not a rule it really depends on how it is made. This will pop up on one of the shaving forums, whoever gets it will no doubt crow about it.

Equivalence wise who knows but what I can say is that the normal Pils is usable every day; I am just going though my favourite blades to see which one suits it best. With this one it is a wait and see.

Greg is a member here, maybe he will pop in and tell us what he tried to do by adding the OC.
