I didn't read about or watch any of this game so correct me if I'm mistaken.

I'm assuming serves were difficult to break because they both had monster serves, did a game of tennis actually break out?

The few dozen games I watched seemed quite closely matched - often going to deuce - I think Isner had match point 5 or 6 times before finally converting... Mahut also seemed to be still going for it even after 6 hours on court on Wednesday. (Apparently he knocked out one of the other great British hopes in the qualifying tournament in a 5-setter that went to 24-22 as well, so I'd say he just doesn't give up, ever).
