Some members asked him to come in here first and introduce himself, must admit this is the only forum I've ever seen that virtually insists that a first post should be an introduction.

There is no insistence for an introduction post, it is just deemed to be polite. The reason we picked up on Max in particular was because he made a short post claiming a pif as his first post. He subsequently gave a reason for not introducing himself first which is fine and as you can see it has all ended well and we have a new valuable member.Welcome aboard Max.
