How does that compare against other brands.

What do you consider the best face lathering cream that can be purchased in the UK

Proraso is a great cream and stands with the best of them, especially given the price.
Personally for me I would have to say any of the Signature soaps or Geo F Trumpers creams but that's just my opinion and YMMV.

Proraso is excellent value for the money, but I agree with Johnny, Trumper’s creams are outstanding, probably the best I’ve used.
The post shave feel is comparable to a tallow and lanolin rich soap. Musgo Real is also very good.

Consider it a benchmark product that meets and exceeds a number of criteria such as availability, price, ease of use, in-shave effectiveness and post-shave feel. When trying out other products, you can compare: it is as good as Proraso.

Castle Forbes make really nice luxurious creams. 200g tub and super concentrated so a little goes a very long way. Lovely scents, Lavender and 1445 are my favourites.

All Better Than Proraso by a country mile but also more expensive.
This isn’t a criticism of Proraso off course but there’s far better out there and i would also put Cella in there as well.
