Checked Durham B&M when I was up there yesterday , they had none on display , the only whisky I saw was Bells for just under £15Has anyone seen this on sale anywhere? B&M used to stock it, but can't find it anywhere now.
I enjoyed it as a good cheapie to have in the cupboard, a decent blend for the money.
Jamesons usually on offer Tesco Sainsbury’s etc, Teachers is less fashionable nowCheers, but I don't really want to buy online and pay postagefor the extra postage costs I could get a bottle of Irish. I liked getting teachers in a shop because it was cheap as hell
Since posting .....I have taken a short trip to the Co-op in Hay (7 miles in case anyone is concerned!) It's about 100 m inside England. The alcohol prices are ridiculously much cheaper....
Do you have an Aldi nearby? Their Highland Black is supposed to be a decent blend and is as cheap as...Hasn't been in my local one for ages, I'll enquire

I had the same problem. I found that limiting my consumption to a bottle a day helped.Yes, we have two in town. I've tried a few Aldi and Lidl whiskies and never really got on with them, they seem to give me really bad heartburn.
AgreedBurns Night cost me a bl**dy fortune -
Even when it isn't Burns Night - I put a dram on my haggis - both meat and vegetarian - It works.. I.
The best whisky I have so far tasted was Japanese - a mix of two malts - so, technically a blend. I think it was about 100 euros a bottle. Spectacular in every respect. I've also drunk English and Welsh malts that were excellent. Cheers - I.Without a shadow of doubt this is the best blended Whisky i have ever had
and i would go as far as to say it’s better than most malts iv tried & iv virtually had hundreds.
Mind you it’s no cheap at £175 ish
Quite expensive for a blend

I like the Hibiki from Yamasaki but as you say a bit expensive. In all the time I worked in Japan I grew to love Japanese whisky, Hakushu, Yamasaki especially, unfortunately nowadays it's priced itself out if the market and it seems impossible to get a decent single malt with an age statement for less than 120 quid, and too many whiskies came on the market named as Japanese when they were anything but - as long as it was bottled in Japan they could call it Japanese. Scotch (bulk export - Ben Nevis anyone?), Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese have all been used to adds to Japanese products. The industry has belatedly tightened up the rules but too much sh*t has been sold.
