This seller is highly recommended. He once made me a four sided Long tom & many have bought from him. He's an honest down to earth bloke that doesn't rip people off with sub-standard rubbish.Regarding a strop or paddle strop.Personally I would choose the paddle & learn the x pattern on that for a few months then progress onto a hanging strop if you fancy. You can't go wrong with a paddle but for some, the hanging strop can take a bit of getting used.Keep us all updatedI'm about to pick up my first straight. It will be shave ready but I need a cheap strop.
I'm thinking of going for a paddle strop.
Any have any advice on why I shouldn't?
Is this one any good:

Hahaha. All this fast is better is nonsense.I bet many people cut up their strops trying to impress themselves after watching youtube videos lol Like with anything in life, take time & do something with attention & care. With the hanging strop you start with caution and everything is fine for a week or so then: "Hey! I can do this, I can do it fast Pro Style!" and strop is suddenly covered with knife marks.
Good thing about the 3" wide strop especially for beginners is that the X pattern doesn't need to be used.
The Only Issue with a 3 Inch Strop is that a Beginner May Perhaps Unwittingly Ride the Shoulder of Some Blades on the Edge of the Strop..Good thing about the 3" wide strop especially for beginners is that the X pattern doesn't need to be used.
It's very true.Much easier to cut yourself on other types of razors but with a straight it hardly happens.Started the first four weeks using straight razor only for the right part of my face and safety razor for the left, nicked myself twice both times on safety razor
Agreed. You can't go wrong with the x pattern for starting off on a regular strop.Stops any lazy habits kicking in.The Only Issue with a 3 Inch Strop is that a Beginner May Perhaps Unwittingly Ride the Shoulder of Some Blades on the Edge of the Strop..
