Stinging Sienna - no more ....

Hi

SWMBO likes the scent of C&E Sienna. She got me a bowl for my b'day a couple of months ago. At first I did not get on with it at all:

- Couldn't get it to lather well
- It didn't seem to provide much lubrication and cushion
- It gave a light stinging sensation on application of the lather

However, due to the scent and SWMBO, I kept trying. Once I got the lathering under control (using a boar instead of a badger, and less water) the shave itself was fine, however, the stinging remained. But lo and behold - gradually the stinging has reduced significantly, so much that I have no problem anymore using it.

Has anybody experienced anything similar?

Yes, I had exactly the same reactions! I thought it was just me! I have now swapped out my C&E for something else, I have tried Palmolive, ToOBS, Wilkinson sword all with no problems and now have Coates and Mitchells to try.

Thats pretty weird since I find Sienna and Nomad really easy to lather, great lubrication and a nice soap skin care wise talking.I wonder if they had reformulated the soaps (again).....
