It's weird, I thought I had really got the hang of this shaving malarkey, but it seems I am still learning.
Will it ever stop?
I have two Wolfmen: one is aluminium dual comb, the other is steel open comb. Until recently, the aluminium one has given me the best shave of any razor, but I didn't enjoy using it so much because it feels like it skitters due to its low weight. The steel one feels wonderfully made, but I've struggled to get a comfortable shave out of it. I've really persevered with the steel one, because I love it as an object.
Anyway, the last few days, I have been going much much shallower with angle using the steel one, and have suddenly been rewarded with phenomenally smooth shaves. Zero stings from alum, for the first time ever.
I've also been limiting myself to MWF for the last month as it seems to be by far the best performing soap I've got, so perhaps I have also come to master the lather with MWF now too.
