Sterilizing a brush

Hello all does anyone know what to use to sterilize a brush, whether it be a second hand one or a buy from China.

I've heard of Milton fluid but I've also heard it's a mild bleach and don't know if this could affect the badger hair.

You can also use vineager and water and let the brush sit for around five minutes (just the bristle part). It works, but you smell the vineager the first couple of times. I use aprox. 1/5 pure vineager/water, but it´s not an exact sience, you can prob use 1/10 or 3/5 aswell.

Bleach, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, ozone, Barbicide.

bleach, peroxides, ozone all have the drawback that they are oxidative disinfectants, which could adversely affect a brush.

AFAIK, Barbicide is based on a quat (a quaternary ammonium compound, such as benzalkonium chloride). You could try and find a quat-based disinfectant (many 'professional' disinfectants for cleaning and disinfecting institutional rooms (walls, floors), or kitchens are quat-based.
