Tuesday 29th

I picked up the Rasoir Czar from la belle France some months ago but never got round to using it. R K Waites safety razor bible only records it as “manufacturer unknown”. It took a wedge blade originally, one came with this razor but it was unusable, nice engraving on the blade though so I kept it. The removable handle has an end connection for a blade stropping fitting a la Kampfe Star, which also fits.
I fitted a de-spined GEM with added (3D plastic) wedge pieces, soaped up using Culmak junior bristle and Crabtree & Evelyn Indian sandalwood cream. I was surprised how good the razor still performs after, what,100+ years ?, a bit on the light side weight wise but blade gap perfect, two passes wtg atg and then clean up with the Mercur twin blade (Gillette) cartridge for a perfectly acceptable finish. The Mercur came with small plastic adapters to allow fixed and floating twin blade carts to be used.

An easy lather today from the RR400 and Scottish Heather and a sharp blade in the STD finish PILS - result - a very nice shave.
2 passes with some touch up for a comfortable, BBS finish.
The scents used today blowing away the winter cobwebs.
Stay safe and enjoy your day all.

Tuesday

I thought I needed to retire the Nacet, possibly a shave early as I'd been using it on a higher setting on the slim.

I still had the M2 black handled flare tip fitted with the M2 blade, so I thought I would keep it going. Still pretty smooth.

I haven't used the Stirling barbershop for a while so I thought I'd give it a run out.

A vanilla & talcum smelling me is now sitting in presentations for the next few hours!

Shave a bit off today as well as the other day for the two shaves on this blade. Prep, razor, brush & soap are known quantitites, but the two shaves seemed a tad rougher than normal. Results were both a DFS, but the blade did not seem quite as smooth/sharp as I recall. I am 99.99% the blade is genuine so...

Info is nowhere to be found!!! Just pix.

Good to see you back Richard. Hope you're feeling better.

Crikey, 2 weeks in hospital! I hope you're better now. Good to have the Mr Whippy lather shots back.

Ordinarily I'd say it's still a bit early for Santa........this is Bad Santa though, and he doesn't play by the rules!

First time using an open comb (saw the OC3 plate on a BST after picking up the Era) which didn't go nearly as bad as I had suspected it might, first use on the BIC was perhaps a mistep though - hadn't used one for quite a while and clearly had forgotten just how sharp they are (even the trusty AL13 left some war wounds with it on the dome).

Star of the show tonight was the MacDuffs though. First use of my first set from this soap maker, definitely won't be the last. The scent in this stuff though is incredible - find myself liking a certain festive song by Wizard a good bit more now .

Tuesday 29th November

Cream - Cyril R Salter French Vetiver
Brush - Yaqi 24mm Tuxedo Red Marble
Razor - Rockwell 6C (R4)
Blade - Gillette Spoiler (2)
Post - Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla A/S

My second use of this 'fabled' blade, and I can see why they're revered.
No doubt sharp, but in a comfortable way.
I hadn't shaved for 48 hours, but the growth wasn't as much as with other blades such as GSB et-al.
I'm told these blades are good for up to-and beyond 20 shaves?, I'll see how ot goes . . .
I must mention that it was @Digimonkey who gifted me these blades. Thank you Iain.
