SOTD : Saturday 13th October - Friday 19th October 2018.

Pinch away..I'm honoured..My shave set ups 99% of the time are very in-expensive, but they work for me, and have rewarded me with some superb shaves...Aloe Vera Gel is my go to post shave, superb stuff. Enjoy your shaves. Regards. B

The razor (£5 eBay), Brush (£6 Amazon), Cream (£4.50 Boots), Oil (£1.25 Wilkos) and bowl (£1 Charity shop) I used today cost less in total than a pack of 8 Fusion cartridges - with some change. The rest of the stuff I already had. If I'd used a tube or stick of Palmolive I could have paid even less.
But to me, it's just as important that I get a better shave than I did with carts - my skin feels way better and it's a far more enjoyable experience.

~SOTD~ October 13th

Prep ~ Shower, Birch tar soap
Razor ~ CB Karve - D Plate - On loan
Blade ~ Vintage Personna Star
Soap ~ London Oatcake Shaving Soap ~ "Overgrowth"
Brush ~ Semouge TSN 2018 LE Boar
Post ~ Thayers
Scent ~ Vetiver Insolent ~ Miller Harris

A fantastic shave with the Karve fitted with the D Plate and a Vintage Personna Star blade installed.
The second use of this blade and it produced a close smooth shave and is perfectly matched to both my skin and the razor set up.
The soap was fab, my first use of this new addition to the range of Oatcake soaps and the scent was just like the smells I was picking up when I walked my dog through the woods this morning after heavy wind and rain all night, damp foliage and soil, wonderful
I can not wrap this up without giving my Semogue LE brush a mention, it really is a joy to use and makes short work of producing a great lather from any soap I care to put it to.
A couple of spray's of Vetiver Insolent from Miller Harris and that was me done, perfectly shaven and smelling fabulous

Enjoy your weekend people.........Paul.

For about a year now I've only had 3 brushes, then in the last 2 weeks I've bought three more. This was the inaugural shave for the Classic 1 Manchurian badger brush, by Simpson.

The Manchurian hair is soft to the touch, but with loads of backbone, and provides a very enjoyable feeling during lathering. It is quite small though... did have to go back to the soap for my 3rd pass.

Simpson Classic 1 Manchurian
Tabac Soap
Gillette New Long Comb
Gillette Silver Blue blade
A little alum,
Nivea Sensitive Balm l
Fine Accoutrements L'Orange Noir After Shave Lotion

You are right mate - it is nice to use - expensive - luxury products - but money cannot buy you a good shave - in my experience - the better part of it is - prep and technique. Yours - I.

it goes without saying really... but yeah, that hit the spot... but, I feel it's time to swap the Permasharp for something fresh... I think a 'Black Ninja' will do the honours for a while...

Brush: 'El Monstruo' (Romera Manchurian 30/50 Fan)

Saturday 13th October PM

Pre-shave:- Hot shower, The Real Shaving Company Facial Scrub then Proraso White Pre Shave cream
Brush:- The Executive Shaving Company Medium Jock Synthetic
Soap/Cream:- Alvarez Gomez Barberia cream
Razor/Blade:- Gillette Fatboy/Gillette 7 O'clock green (2)
Post-shave:- Thayers Witch Hazel Cucumber followed by Proraso Green aftershave balm
ADT: Next Code Red

3 days growth taken off with pleasure.

The Fatboy is a joy to behold. I upped the setting to 6 this evening and the blade performed with ease.

For my final pass I moved down to setting 2 to make sure my angle was good with the result being a BBS finish.

A nice rinse with Thayers and smidgen of Proraso balm had me smiling. Finishing off with a spray of Next Code Red EdT. Lovely.

Have a great night folks!
